wow, just a bit bigger than 50 cents, that's quite small. you need to pay extra attention to them as they are very prone to sickness at such a young age, and this may go on for years before you can breathe a sigh of relief.smile.gif

the easiest food you can get is of course green mustard (sawi), and tortoise pellets where you can obtain with ease at aquarium shops. the brands, i think regular members have just posted in the last couple of pages, you may browse through that. there's a list in the first page as well if you want to have the complete list.

have fun and enjoy tortoise rearing as a hobby! wink.gif

i already know the risk and i dun mind bearing it... i already trying to give the best, and if my babies didnt make it then its ok, but if they succeed, its sure gonna be one of the best exp biggrin.gif

QUOTE(blazin_fir3 @ Mar 16 2008, 02:08 PM)
Chop up the mustard greens or any other veggies that you want to give them so that they won't choke on their food. Of course make sure you give them calcium and multivitamin supplements. For babies that small, i think it was mentioned be4 that the calcium supplement should be everyday or more frequent than adults. They should be given a variety of veggie and pumpkin like once an month like uzairi mentioned for de-worming. You should also read all the care sheets at the 1st post. Your baby STs are so small that it needs much more attention till u can make sure that they can survive. I only had a 50-50 chance for torts that small. Oh, and make sure u gif them have natural sun rays for vit D3.
Thx uzairi for answering my doubts. Another question: Can i give my tort hibiscus leaves as staple? Coz it refuses the mustard green until the point he uses the front leg and pushes it all away..=.=

i try to sun bath them for an hour a day, from 8.30 to 9.30...thanks for the info, rilli appreciate it biggrin.gif

*
yup, 2 more is about 3-4 inch, one got damaged shell, not just pyramiding but also cacat one.the shell doesnt grow well, maybe lack of calcium...very pity one that tort sad.gif ...... also there is a pair of MATA-MATA turtle drool.gif there, the aquarium sign said for display but i dun believe it, surely they will let it go if sumone want to buy it....maybe other seller also use the same tactics ~ who knows... hmm.gif

Got MALE size around 6 inches?

Added on March 20, 2008, 2:07 am

I think so.... Becoz now they are hiding. The only show for serius buyer & clear all the old stock.

Added on March 20, 2008, 2:49 am

Matamata:drool: ? How about their size? Last time i saw Irine sell common snapper 5 inches size for RM500... Wondering how much they selling their Matamata now... I saw 1 in Muar, size 4 inches. selling RM2988  shocking.gif

The 2 more ST 3-4 inches at Irine are male or female?

Actually i dont mind to buy cacat ST as long not cracked shell. Last time i bought a male ST from Ipoh which have very2 serious piramiding & lack of calsium. The owner just feed that ST with Long Beans + Calsium Powder everyday... How sad sad.gif ... No basking lamp sad.gif ... but lucky that ST didnt kena RNS  tongue.gif . I bought from that guy RM888... kinda expensive hor... but i bought it becoz i wanna give that ST a good & better life even i know that St cant live for so long. After 6 months he with me, that ST died. But i feel happy becoz i took him out from the cruel owner & he had a better life ( even just for 6 months ) before he died. Let you all see how cruel the previous owner, I took these pictures once i reached back from Ipoh :

erk!how terrible.. shocking.gif kesiannyee... sad.gif
i think yg dkt irene 2 lg ok,coz ia just mcm berkedut2 only at one part of his/her shell.cam kecacatan sejak kecil..
em,im think 3 of them all female.but maybe irene still keep many of them..the MATAMATA pair there was for 'display' - yeah rite, i think if sumone want to buy it then the tokey surely will sale it lah...

If a tortoise has soft shell.... sunning and normal calcium intake would be slow.... I dunno what progress would happen coz I had 1 star that was like that before, it died within a year.... I was feeding it calcium powder and sunning him too.

The right way to treat would be lots of sun, high calcium foods and also calcium injections.... must do weekly or something. This is a faster way to get the calcium absorbed into the body to harden the shell... vet told me this 5 years ago..... coz my star died 5 years ago.

Now my current 6 year old star is healthy with a very hard shell.
*
my ST is still juvenile..age about 5 month i think....yup, its normal to have soft shell ...isn it? unsure.gif

Mine was also small.... it was like 2 inches.... already you can know if it is having problem. Young stars have spongy shells, not soft shell.... soft shell is like.... erm... if you press the shell easily with slight force, it means soft.... spongy is not soft, is like still solid but like spring a bit....

Hard to explain, I can only show it LOL.
*
mine is just 3 cm... 1 inch ++ a little.... OiC.....mine is spongy then sweat.gif , thanks for the info.. icon_rolleyes.gif
