I think better rush to a vet asap. It needs to be treated or the wound will fester. And TTT wounds fester VERY quickly.

I prefer snappers. Hehe...
BTW guys my ally snapper seems to be a bit slow. Can't quite manage to catch fish that it usually has no problem catching back then. Seems slower. But it can still manage and is still eating lar. It seems to like lying on the same spot on the log a lot too. Everyday at noon till early evening. |

OMG :hyper_shok: The poor sulcata. Sigh... Hope it gets a better owner.
Anyway, yesterday my ally snapper went missing after we left it to bask for about half an hour. Was looking high and low and was on the verge of giving up (even more than ever since I lost 2 turtles before). After 2 hours of searching finally found her in the sewer deep inside and not noticeable at all. Geez, gave me a heart attack. This post has been edited by Jamien: Aug 2 2008, 02:54 PM |

That's the whole point. It's very easy for algae to grow on a Res's back and that enclosure has so much algae. The algae on his RES's backs must be overgrowing!

Sigh... I'm guessing that the tort that came to your house escaped from another house nearby. In some cases, lepaskan=mati. I hope you lepas in a nice place.
But we shouldn't lepas cuz most torts are not native to our country and can ruin our ecosystem here. If lepas tak dapat cari makan also will die mar. If you bela, please don't lepas. |

QUOTE(skim @ Aug 19 2008, 10:34 AM) hi, i'm new here. hope can get some help abt my tortoises. From your description, am I right to assume that you keep them together? Because I kept both my stars together and exactly the same thing happened. 1 grew but 1 did not. According to the vet, 1 gets all the good parts of the food and 1 does not. Leads to deficiency and weakness. got 2 tortoises abt the same size when bought then. almost a yr alrdy, 1 is growing bigger but the other still almost same size. the smaller 1 is very active, walking here n there, the fat one is slping most the time. is it a problem? today i saw the small one sneezing with big bubble on nose. is it flu? what shd i do? both are still small tortoise, abt half a palm size. i fed them french beans most the time, sometime longbean, spinach & tortoise pellets pre-soak in water with calciumizer. i was told they're star tortoise. so can anyone tell me exactly they "indian", "burmese",......??? thanks a lot to any helps/info.... [attachmentid=563241] Anyway, sleeping all the time is a very very bad sign. I suggest you bring them to the vet as soon as possible. The flu is a symptom of Running Nose. And your one that's sleeping all the time may have an internal infection. Is the shell soft? If it is, then your Torts are not absorbing the calcium you're giving them, and are taking it from their shell and bones. This weakens them considerably. The diet you are giving them is not suitable. And you have to sun them. They cannot digest the calcium you give them if they do not get a chance to bask. Anyway, please bring them to a vet ASAP. My tort that was sleeping all the time did not make it. If you want yours to make it quickly save them. |

QUOTE(CreepyCrawly @ Aug 23 2008, 11:12 PM) Ok, it's in 1 utama. There's a place called Jusco home improvement. Find an escalator and go down. You'll see a petshop. They sell cuttle bones there. Back then, the price is RM 2.50 for 1 large one or 2 small ones. The price should have risen a lil but not much I think. Hay, you can get in any decent pet shops that sell rabbits or guinea pigs. Make sure you get those that are fresh and looks green. |
