My advice is dont buy any tortoise species that is not from a  a tropical climate as ours. You are just delaying their death. I had star, radiated, pancake etc. They cant adapt to humidity regardless of how good your husbandry is. Buy water species instead. I have a local elongata. Its hardy, a beauty and lasting.

Your comment is very missleading. i dont know for others, but my group of friends that we keep star, radiata, pancake and etc...all are doing very fine and all are healthy bugger. Instead of giving your advice of not keeping why not do more research on how to keep those tortoise before you comment. I had two pancakes that have been with me for years. Not a single problem with them. You can browse thru my photos that i have uploaded. Radiated tortoise is one of the hardy tortoise. They are pretty easy to take care not much of requirement. As for star tortoise, i think most of us have their fair share of story related to star tortoise. The main thing is that they way they are brought into the country and they are stress. Furthermore, star tortoise is very prone to flu. Therefore much attention is needed for them. That only happen to Indian or Sri Lankan Star. Burmese star i have no problem with them. Therefore kindly retract your advice and comment.

To Beardiekid: Elongata is land tortoise.

i dont know why...you guys keep asking whether is your star a indian or burmese. come on guys...what you pay is what you get. dont expect your seller to give you a burm when you are paying RM 100-200.

well...if you want to buy..buy from a reputable seller. Then you wont get scam away. Thats my only advice. FYI prepare 4 figure for burmese star.

I dont think anyone can go over to visit...is to risky to open for visitation. and to minimize the possibility of suspecting your friend if anything happen

the problem why this is so diff with other thread, because for example you mention suggie thread they only focus on ONE thing that is SUGIE, and bearded thread you guys only focus on bearded is itself. Whereas TTT is everything in it. We are talking from tortoise to turtle.

For aligator snapping turtle, they are quite hardy for a turtle. No special requirement by them. The price for hatchling now would cost you anywhere from RM 350.00 - 550.00.
