I feel RES is very easy to care. From my experience, they eat like hungry ghost, swim to you like a shark when they're hungry, easy to clean (and brush their shell. Not resistant to being hand-held), grow fairly quickly and are not picky about food. And yes, they bask like flying. Mine used to shed a lot too. From 20 cent to size of a small plate, Can you imagine the shedding... ^^" Ah, They also used to take turtle pellets from my hands.

@anbusan: if your RES eats it'll grow till its old. Don't worry. Just need to worry about its diet so that its shell doesn't get deformed (providing it eats).

I thought air kolah is good? I also thought that you don't have to use anti-chlorine for air kolah.

Depends, its either you give them fresh or half boiled. Big ones can readily consume the fresh pumpkin even tough its hard but for small specimen, boiling the pumpkin might help them eating them better since its softer. Cutting them into small pieces is a good way too.

Mercury vapour bulbs are not recommended as it might endanger you and your chelonians if any mishap happens. My 0.02 cents

It's important to know what do you feed him? Is it oatmeal or vege or others?

How big is your tort and what is the portion that you are giving so that we can make a comparison, then we will know whether he over eats.

Overloading with food can leads to vomiting, i have experienced that before but not as often as yours i suppose.
