I took it somewhere in the middle of the basking light and the cool end of the enclosure.

As for the higher watt, that is one of my concerns of raising the temp too high, but i read somewhere that if the condition in the enclosure is warm and humid it will be ok for stars? As opposed to it being cold and humid.

Warm n humid is also a good place to " grow" bacteria !!! Where is the whole enclosure placed ?

I have moved it to another plc, its more of an open environment, still checking the humidity reading, its about 64% right now, and its about 230pm.

That's a great humidity without the basking lights. How do you get that kind of reading?

I can get the humidity to go as low as 48% with the basking light on normal days.

I use a normal 2.5ft tank with a wood top and a recycled paper pellets.

Because their back is soft compared to normal turtles, brushing them might hurt and stress them. Their carapace contains lots of nerves endings and brushing them might hurt, its better if you install a good filtering setup to counter those stuff at the carapace. smile.gif
