Introduction of Proton Saga / Iswara

The Proton Saga is the first car produced by Malaysian auto manufacturer Proton, based on the 1983 Mitsubishi Lancer Fiore. It first debuted in September 1985. The first Proton Saga that rolled off the production line was presented to the Malaysian National Museum as a symbol of the beginning of the Malaysian automotive industry.

Since then, the Proton Saga and its variants contributed to most of Proton's sales and revenues. The Saga variants are also popular among Malaysian taxi drivers and operators who need cheap vehicles with good fuel economy. The Saga is currently the longest surviving brand in a line of cars offered by Proton.

Warranty FAQs
1. What makes the warranty contract null and void?
For details, please refer to your PROTON Service Booklet under Section 4 of Warranty and Limitation of Liability. However, PROTON reserves the right of final decision on all warranty claims.

2. What is covered by the warranty?

Subject to terms and conditions, PERUSAHAAN OTOMOBIL NASIONAL BERHAD (referred as PROTON) warrants that any items of the "Basic Warranty and Specific Warranty" of the new vehicle manufactured by and for PROTON shall be free from any defects in materials and workmanship of these warranty covered by new vehicle limited warranty will be repaired or replaced free of charge by any PROTON's authorised distributors or dealers.

Basic Warranty items

The basic warranty items that are any items of the new PROTON vehicle (except the Specific items and the Special transacted items*) are warranted to 24 months or 50,000 kms, whichever comes first.

Specific Warranty items

The specific warranty items listed below are warranted to 12 months or 20,000 kms, whichever comes first.

4. Can I use my own lubricant/engine oil at EON Service Centre?
Yes. EON will not be responsible for any problem arising from the usage of other brands other than our recommended lubricant/engine oil.

5. Is it important to use genuine parts?

Yes, it is important that you use PROTON genuine parts and accessories.

This will ensure that the original vehicle specifications are maintained and that the replacement parts meet the same high standards as the vehicle original equipments. This will also ensure the vehicle compliance to the government regulations relating to vehicle safety and environmental controls. The use of parts that do not conform to the correct specification may cause damage to the vehicle and could also invalidate the terms of the warranty.

2day saw 1 gen2 cps testing with persona at PLUS when i go to rawang. dunno the persona hv cps or not???

i think if they implement CPS all campro they ll implement geh becos of marketing strategy ma..

but of course, it should be white in colour. Notice the trademark steel rims. Usually steel rims will just be all silver or black without any centre cap. This wasnt meant to be used with rim cover.

you still have to wax/silicone polish (non-abrasive) it
yes, the paint will come out abit for the 1st many times
after that it will reduce slowly
if you dont wax/polish, your paint on the plastics will dull very fast and then start to crack
once that happens, water ingress will kick in
and not too long after that, the paint will start to peel off

so conclusion,...you have to wax/polish...even tho your polishing cloth picks up abit (actually quite abit) of color from the painted plastics

dude polish and wax is different.. wax is applying a layer of coat to prevent water go inside ur paint.
polish is to remove a layer of paint so that ur paint look new.

i wax and polish my wings before. nothing happen.. the layer of wax protect the wing wells. U try to find non-abrasive wax to polish ur car. Turtle wax is a bit strong. I use Kit Wax (for 0-2 years paint) there are also several other type of wax which is suitable for old paint.

Added on January 26, 2008, 6:12 pmur 2/3 days only still ok le mine some time a week only drive 2 or 3 times.. but once travel need to travel only around 80km . If u put ur car there only i think also cant last for 5 to 6 years the weight only focus on the bottom so the tyre also will spoil.

please get your facts right
wax n polish are different
that much, you have got it right

wax sticks to the paint...but there is no chemical reaction
so it can wear off easier
it creates a slippery coating on the paint so that dirt cant stick so easily
(certain air borne dirt like smog does react with the paint if it is allowed to be in contact with the paint over long durations)

polish on the other hand (most of them these days) actually bond with the paint
so the upper layer (top few molecules) of paint is actually not purely paint
it is an alloy (if you will) of the paint and the chemicals in the polish
this (depending on what the polish is designed to do) can have varying effects on the paint surface
among the effects are:
- to create a slippery layer (same function as wax)
- to create a UV resistant layer to reduce UV damage and thus prolong paint life
- to harden the surface of the paint to make it more resistant to nicks and fine scratches

many polishes (i'd go so far as to say 'most') these days are non-abrasive unless stated

for old paint, u r refering to cutting agents
these are meant to remove the layer of dead paint
once the layer of dead paint is removed, one should not continue to these cutting agents
one should switch to a good silicone polish which will help to preserve the newly exposed layer of good paint

most will put 'non-abrasive' or sumthing like that...that means it is NOT cutting
cutting agents dont remove any wax coz if ur paint has gone dead, means ur wax layer has long ago worn off
cutting agents remove a thin layer of paint
think of it as liquid sand paper
it contains abrasive particles which actually scrape off the top layer (a few microns) of paint

the one i'm using is called turtle "wax" but it says its a car polish

The purpose of polishing is to remove contamination, swirls, scratches and other imperfections from the paint. In contrast to the clay, which removes contamination from the surface of the paint, polishes penetrate the clearcoat or the paint itself on single stage paint. Polishes are classified based on how abrasive they are. Rubbing Compound will remove the heavy scratches and oxidation. It can be compared to a fine sandpaper. Polish is used to remove light oxidation and fine scratches. It can also be used to remove light imperfections such as swirl marks or water spots. Pre-wax cleaner is also a polish. It is used prior to waxing to remove very light contamination and dirt. Glaze is the finest polish. It does not remove the imperfections but has the power to enhance surface gloss. There are other products such as a "buff and wax" which contain a high level of cleaner and U.V. protectant or carnuba, producing a polish and a protect affect.

Purpose of Waxing

Waxing your car is the ultimate form of protecting your automobile's finish. Wax comes in many forms like cream, paste, liquid, etc. Many waxes contain carnuba which contains a high amount of fatty acids. This fatty acid creates a solid layer between the paint and the outside world which protects it, and gives it a shiny finish. The best form of waxing your car is using a synthetic wax. Synthetic wax contains man made U.V. inhibitors like the ones used in sunscreen to protect your skin (However they are stronger for obvious reasons). Synthetic waxes commonly mix low amounts of cleaners with high amounts of U.V. inhibitors to create the same protective layer on your car that carnuba does.

There are various products advertising a "wash and wax" in the same use. They are a thin liquid that advise you to wash your car and that you will not have to apply a hand wax. Most of these products contain petroleum distilates that only produce a brief shine that imitates the effect of a carnuba or synthetic wax, and will soon attract dirt.


Purpose of using Clay Bar

Clay is a mixture of clay base and various abrasives. Clay along with a clay lubricant is used to remove paint contamination. Road grime, tar, bugs, rust, tree sap and even paint over spray can be removed with a clay bar. Clay bars differ in color and density but what is most important, type and amount of abrasive particles they contain. Claying does not remove the clear coat of the paint but can cause marring or dullness if used incorrectly. When using a clay bar it is important to use sufficient lubrication. It takes a few passes of clay to feel the difference on the surface of the paint. To evaluate the effectiveness of claying dry the area and assess the paint and the bar. The paint should become slick to touch. The clay bar used should be turning gray. If the clay bar is dropped it must be discarded. Check often for any large particles on the clay bar as you might unknowingly scratch the paint when claying. Claying does not replace polishing. It is a process that should be used before polishing compound is used. Claying should be used once or twice a year.
