And starting next year, Honda will be introducing their new generation of "VTEC" engines to the market, it's called Advanced VTEC or A-VTEC... It will be introduced first on high end Honda models...

My fren paid deposit and booked this car already. He said the price of this car is rm93,000. He was promised by salesman that car will be delivered in january.

So its either we all go buy the vios and drive it home but felt something missing then we end up crying all our way to home,

or we all end up driving back the city and ended up smilling all our way to home frm the showroom

maybe its part of their strategy, its like telling ppl 'hey, vios is still selling good, thats why the long wait.' so typical kaisu malaysian mindset will be, 'oh like tat ah, then i fast fast book vios lo, city also dono wut price and dono wait sampai bila, better take vios now, safer bet'.

5k discount not worth, if 10k and above can consider, but your car value will drop cause the new city launched.. Unless you want to use your car 10 years.

Actually, I threw the Altis 1.6 as a random spanner. The better options are the Sentra, SX4 Sedan & X20.

Of which, I consider the X20 being the best bang for the buck just based on the stuff you get. The Sentra would also be a good choice as well, but it is a rather old car and should have been retired ages ago but still, there's no denying that there's still good value based on what you get. The SX4 is a good choice as well, and it's CBU Japan too I think.

Altis 1.6 - Is it a better car than the City SV for the price? Let's do a checklist

Overall, there is a trade off between the SV spec and the 1.6 Altis with the Altis seemingly getting more of  the stick.

1. Does it justify the 10k premium in commands over the SV City? Probably not but it still is a bigger car
2. Is it a more reliable car? Well, the engine has a good track record of being very fuel efficient like the Vios since proven (read: old) technology was used.
3. Would I buy the Altis 1.6 over the City SV? Probably not, the X20 would be a better choice, I just have to live with the probable bad resale value later
4. Is the manufacturing quality better? CBU vs CKD (Thailand vs Malaysia) That's a tough call but the slight advantage goes to Thailand.

Edit for point 1: There's a promotion going on now for 3 year free maintenance (probably just free labor) or 2.88% car loan interest. So that's kind of a deal sweetener I guess. Make sure to read the fine print.

I DID NOT at any point say that the Altis is a better buy. The list states the advantages and disadvantages of the Altis, and point for point, the City has more to its merit than the 1.6L Altis. I did indicate that if the new City cost 93k with all options in, then a Hyundai x20 or Suzuki SX4 Sedan, or a Nissan Sentra 1.6 would probably be more bang for the buck.

Anyway, bear in mind - this Altis is still a new model although it's more like a facelift in Malaysia. At least for the rest of the world, they get something that's 90% to 100% brand new :/

Finished reading the latest issue of Autocar Asean at Borders today. Good to know Honda is changing the tire brand and giving us Bridgestone now. Luckily it wasn't Goodyear NTC 5. Anyway the reviewed car was grey color and it looks impressive too.

so its 3.5 out of 5 ya, will get one copy soon. so far we have seen the red ones during the launches and reviews, silver one for the modulo, blue one for the european, grey one in autocar asean, was really hoping to see more of the black ones too.

so far none le, they took the standard silver and equiped it with modulo. maybe i can photoshop it for u lol. but seriously, picture of the black is really rare, i wonder why. maybe not attractive? o ya, you gonna take the full modulo or just the front grille?

Went to 2 Honda showrooms yesterday (well it's Depavali!!!! Long weekend!!!  )
Both SA I met gave conflicting info regarding the new City... But well, u know SA's!!!?????? 
They could not confirm the price but said it should be under RM90k for the cheapest strip down model...
Car could not be delivered before CNY even with pre-launch booking 
One requested for RM2,000 booking fee and another only a mere RM500!!!
Booking fee 100% refundable (if u can wait for at least 1 month in case u decide to cancel) 
No confirmation on launching date, only mentioned Dec this year or Jan next year...

Conclusion :
1) Dun ever trust SA's especially old mans!!!!!!!!! The young SA I met is the one who said RM500 booking fee!!!!! 
2) Wait for the official launch before u place your order!!!!!!!!!!

elru, regarding your choice of white color. I agree with you that Honda Malaysia ain't doing it. Just realized all cars manufactured at Melaka plant doesn't come with White. (Correct me if I am wrong)

the dimension of height is also taller, just that they make the car lower. so it appears lower than the previous model as previous model is super tall.

Yeah 17" or 16" is just right. Just make sure the rims are light though to save some FC. White body + grey rims =
