it only differs in its generation. iPod Video is around 5 or 5.5 Gen, while a Classic is 6G. As for the body, iPod video faceplate is from glass while the Classic is of full metal body. Function-wise, Classic features Coverflow and another capacity (160GB).

If googling is too hard, just give Wikipedia a shot.

Oww, btw i prefer a 5.5G iPod. It's glossy front is nice. Not to mention encrypted firmware in Classic which makes it not that friendly with 3rd party apps.

Yeah, was wondering about the same thing. Not an avid iPod fanboy so to speak, but I noticed that the current generations of both products look very similar in appearance, adding on to the fact that the Classic recently got video capabilities as well.

another thing is that with the Ipod classic, a lot of 3rd party accessories no longer work.. be prepared to fork out a lot of money for original accessories.. Ipod 5 & 5.5 G already have Video capabilities

I personally find cover flow on the classic (I have one) to be pretty useless. Fun to play around for a few minutes, but not very practical when you have a lot of music. It probably works better with a touchscreen interface like the iPod Touch or iPhone.

The newer games on the iTunes store (like Peggle) will only on the classic and the video rentals as well.

The only way you can find a 5.5g iPod is if it's older stock or second-hand, so keep that in mind.

Scrolling through the Cover Flow fast is pointless after all, think again.

Really? My iPod nano are working with Movie Rentals.

Also, the Ipod video supports video out through the headphone jack or any other 3rd party accesories.Ipod classis has an authentication chip in it and thus, video out is only for certain accesories.

In terms of hardware,

5.5G iPod - Amp and DAC is separated.
6G iPod - Amp and DAC is combined into one.

This means that the 5.5G iPod has a higher potential for hardmodding... If you ever want to laugh.gif
You can learn more about these technical terms in the Audiophile section or in the internet.
