TS, read this thread i found, http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=27108
one of the posts even stated "you can get the 820 up to 3.8 even hit 4hz with good enough cooling i was running mines at 4ghz stable but it was getting to hot so i set it back down to 3.8ghz stable its all depends what your set up is and if u got enough cooling"

well, i'd say 50/50 as his question is "technical" & about "overclocking"..
so it can appear here or Overclockers United

i mean they suck because for the almost same price, you can get much better ocing rams, like balistix, team elites, gskill etc etc

O ok, as per your sig, hmm... nforce chipset huh? :S

well for starters, go to bios, set the ram ratio to 1:1, so that its the same as the fsb. then pump the fsb, and set the memory command to 2T instead of 1T to see how far they can go

oh yeah, one more thing is that nforce chipsets are known to be nuclear generators snce nforce4 days. so... check the temps of it la smile.gif

for waht you wanna add ddr2 800 rams to your system? its wasted power due to the NB bottleneck, heck even ddr2 533 will be wasted power hahahah, unless if you oc more then 266fsb ( QP for 1066)

hmm its normally called 1:1 ratio, or synchronous in the bios, it should be in the ram section

but again, please be very aware that nforce chipped boards are nuclear generators. they are HOT, even at low fsb speeds of 800

is that your stock fsb or have you upped it already?

the voltage for cpu is abit high at the moment, lower it to 1.3v first

FSB speed set it to stock. QDR = 4x the actual fsb

the NEW mem speed, set it to something lower, it should be the lowest speed, which is normally 1:1,

so, the FSB i set it back to 800? the ram lowest 533? or 400?

if fsb is at 800
the ram should be 400

that is 1:1 ratio smile.gif anything more then that values are not beneficial to both performance and power consumption

coz the fsb is actually quad pumped, so 800/4 = 200
ddr2 rams run at 2x the rate, so 400/2 = 200

get it now? biggrin.gif

then to overclock raise the fsb speeds only, the ram speed will follow whatever the fsb is at

no pump fsb first, add voltage sparingly if non at all, it is to stabilize cpu or rams, or high fsb overclocks

hurm, try adding voltage to 1.35v for cpu and rams 1.9v

and dont leave those auto overclocking options on, they tend to overvolt alot

keep an eye out for temps too, because pentium D are nuclear generators sweat.gif

use orthos or occt for quick testing on stability and temp checking.

What is the NB temp? during load and what is your psu?
