SX LP copies doesnt look exactly like the exact LP. and its kinda out of my budget! This post has been edited by hakim182: Jan 23 2008, 09:28 PM

Since you gig, save up and get an Epiphone man...... you won't regret it. There are a few forumers here (Like DeadEye) who can get you a good deal on them. ..... Or check out the ESP/LTD Eclipse models. The EC-50 isn't THAT expensive from Tone Zone studios.......

Something unrelated.. I remember I played a really bad LP copy, I think it's a WAVE or something else, REAL DISASTER! If you plan on changing the hardwares, make sure the feel is alright! Neck, frets and alll....

Since you already have an axe, I suggest you just save up for a proper guitar. Don't bother modifying it or frankensteining it yet...... Just save up for something decent to play with.

Those copy the 50's neck size i think, freaking thick! A few korean made ones i tried b4 has pretty slim necks about the same 60's slim taper =/ sx lps have similar neck dimensions as the china made epis =p

Say what you will, but if it were me, I'd still take a China made Epi LP over the SX Lp......... An epi is still and epi, and the SX is still an SX...... unless you find that one rare SX that really has superior construction and workmanship.

I took my friend who wanted to look for a really cheap Les Paul, budget less than rm700. So first i took him to a guitar shop at Tropicana Mall to look at Warnell, but the quality really sucks. Then we went to Bentley to check out Santa Cruz, a lot better and cheaper. Settled for a Les Paul custom look for RM690.
Overall I would rate it 7/10 for a <1k guitar. Pickups muddy as hell, but it's got a nice Les Paul feel actually. Just need setup out of the box. Recommended other guitars but he's hell bent for a Les Paul.

But imagine the disappointment when I got to see it, the rosewood fretboard looks absolutely dry, there are cracks at the paint everywhere, bolt on and plywood construction. I would say the santa cruz is way better than that, even cheaper at bentley price.

the real santa cruz guitar is made in santa cruz, california. same place as where the famous bicycles are from. santa cruz guitars are super high end guitars, more expensive than martin and taylor. i think most models are above usd4000. but in malaysia, they did not copyright their name so some people simply use the name santa cruz and sell in msia. tumpang glamor... it is like they take a car from china and name it lamboghini.
