I am planning to get a new amp .. I had been having this Laney Hardcore Max 30watt amp for years now. Solid State Amp.

Planning to get an amp with the RETURN/SEND jack.. So I can bypass the preamp there n use my GT-8 the better way.. If u get what i mean. tongue.gif

Any suggestion guys? Which amp/model/type should I get?

I saw a Behringer V-tone amp, looks cool.. around RM1k .. But it comes with so many stuffs in the amp, like modelling, tuner and all that shit.. I doubt I'll be even using them.

My budget is around 1k or below.

Basically I just want a good amp, which isn't too pricey, and has the "Return/Send" jack.

I won't be using this amp for gigs or what, just bedroom usage to tweak my GT-8 properly without going thru the amp's preamp.

Not like we are really able to bring our amps around to gigs anyway all the time..

So, any suggestions? Any advise at all would be good, I'm not quite familiar with amps.

Of course I would love to get a head and cabinet, but I guess I won't have enough space to place it around then.. LOL! Unless it's more recommended to get a head and cabinet kind?

Thanks! smile.gif

why not try contacting nik of ceriatone? his number should be somewhere in the pinned thread. last time he quoted RM800 for a bassman clone (or was it JTM45?).

and i think that nik had appointed michael of junction amp as his agent.

i heard of a guy from miri building a customised 5 watter tube amp based on fender champ for RM650 without shipping. i'll try to source the number.

will keep u posted.

Thanks otaiker for the recommendation!

Jeah jeah efx send return! laugh.gif

How much should I expect a 2nd hand MG50RCD to be?

And what about the price of a new MG50RCD?

Added on January 23, 2008, 6:10 pmOh yes, and where can I find a USED MG50RCD?

Which store around is the dealer of Marshall amps?

Bentley, but REALLY REALLY REALLY suggest you try it out first and see if you like the sound.......

OOOH! OOH!! VOX AD30VT-XL has Send and Return!!!!!

http://www.voxamps.co.uk/valvetronixxl/ad30vt-xl.asp

It's definitely below 1k, around RM800 I think....... You can find it at CK Music.

THIS I HIGHLY recommend. The amp already sounds excellent, has a valve reactor for EXCELLENT tonal qualities, and ow has FX Send and Return.

GET THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL!!! I like ur expression man.. laugh.gif

Ohhhh.. Hmm, but there's one thing I'm concerned about these amps that has "too many other functions" .. Im sure it'll be more expensive just because it has those other stuff right?

The VOX AD30VT has 11 effects on the amp weih.. I doubt I'll be using that.. Hmm.

Or is it really still better than the MG50RCD that otaiker was suggesting? Otaiker , any opinions? smile.gif

Note : I'll mainly be bypassing the amp's preamp anyway, so does the other "extra stuffs" on the amp really matter?

Or should I actually be looking at the speaker of the amp itself, since I'm gonna be bypassing the amp's preamp?

Nik = Ceriatone. Our very own amp maker located in Sri Damansara. He custom built an amp for you based on Marshall/Fender schematics.
Michael = Junction Amp. He usually bought head units made by Nik and custom built the enclosure, speakers, functions, etc.

yup, previously Nik only builds head unit. but with the new collaboration with michael, you could get the whole amp custom built to your specs.

Well, I recommend the vox, because if you're plugging through the FX, you're already juicing up the sound, thanks to the Valve-reactor. I know a few who plugs in their multi-fx and has great results.

I think most multiefx sound good through solid amp (SS ot TUBE). I recommend u to buy the amp without dfx/modelling features since u will use your GT8 as your main distortion/efx. Modeling efx processor might sound more ++ digital with digital amp! IMHO
ANYWAY TEST BEFORE U BUY! nod.gif

Actually since he using the 4 cable method, that would mean it will be bypassing the preamp thus using only the power amp. The vox poweramp section is actually a hybrid ss/valve so it might add a lot of warmth to the sound which I think might show very very good results. Adding more realism to the models in the GT8. I might also point that the vox amp is quite transparent, so it might help bring out more character from the GT8.

**Never tried 4 cable method with the vox b4, because in the vt series only 100 watter has effects loop, the VTXL lower watter models have effects loop.

i beg to differ. tube at the preamp stage wouldnt matter much since u'll be doing 4CM. i'm using the 4CM method through a steve vai legacy amp and i must say once u crank it up, those tubes at the power amp stage sure does make a difference.

It's NOT the AD30VT...... It's the AD30VT-XL......
That's VERY important, as the regular AD30VT doesn't have FX Send/Return......... Only the XL version has it.

Again, the Valve-Reactor DOES make a huge diff when you hook up your Multi-fx.......
