either the quality of anime has dropped, or my taste has changed....

I'm open to any genre, provided it has an interesting, original story/concept, rather than the same old recycled stuff that is popular due to how moe the characters are, or how some guy ended up with a harem.

code geass, unicorn, angel beats, tokyo magnitude 8.0, LoGH, planetes, seikai no monshou/senki, gurren lagann, macross, sousei no aquarion, 00, eve no jikan, evangelion, 5cm/s -> all thumbs up

infinite stratos, ironman, high school of the dead, canaan, hyakka rouran samurai girls, tytania, yasuga no sora -> meh

so basically, anything interesting to recommend?

Any suggestions about a good horror anime with no cheesy romance? But something with less irritating lead than Deadman Wonderland - sorry but this guy was just such a weenie. I enjoyed Ghosthunt and wish there was a second season. Although not horror it was very entertaining and romance was nicely downplayed.
