Well, I can recommend to you stuff, but it depends on how you can tahan the stuff I give you.

In the 70's-80's, you can search for stuff like Aim for the Ace, Glass no Kamen, Dear Brother and the stuff like that for strong women;
Let me tell you, though it may be old, there's a reputation for shoujo back in the day to be cruel and dramatic, and it still is.

In the 90's, you could get into stuff like Sailor Moon, Gunbuster and Utena, where things started to diversify.

In the 2000's, well, there are more choices. The GitS series is a good place to go for the awesomeness that is the Major herself (which you could follow into Seirei no Moribito). Then, there are things like Diebuster where there is a good chemistry between the women main characters.

I've not completed my mind in the 2010's yet, so my apologies for not being able to remember every kind of series I've seen. Unless you are able to watch through the 2010's Lupin tv series

Also, watching Ghibli movies is often good to find strong girl leads.

...Unless you want me to say the obvious answers like Ouran Host Club, Haruhi and such. Heck, I can even call Queen's Blade and/or Ikkitousen as recommendations, since you have a VERY LARGE hole for me to toss recommendations.

Have fun~~

Ah, the atypical triangle/multiple polygon love relationship....

Well, it depends on how old can you stomach it...

For the 80's, one, only one, Takahashi Rumiko anime will get you wanting for the possible to couples to GET ON WITH IT, unlike Ranma 1/2 and Inuyasha. That, is Maison Ikkoku. So good. (Don't ask me about Kimagure Orange Road though; haven't seen it yet.

In the 90s, the genesis of most harem anime, Love Hina, came out in this time. You want wacky harem/love polygon madness, go get it. Unless you're brave enough to venture the madness that is Tenchi Muyo....

In the 2000s, I can't even keep count of how many love polygon shows are there; good luck on finding one.

tl;dr watching harem shows/ love polygons can either be very entertaining, or soul crushing. I don't watch a lot to save my mind and soul...
