I'd recommend this anime. First to be mentioned better in each category, but all is recommended. It's my all time favourite.
Scifi/Thriller: Steins;Gate
Romance/drama: Clannad, Nodame Cantabile, Kanon(2006), Sakamichi no Apollon, Toradora, Kimi ni Todoke, Hachimitsu to Clover
Action: Code Guess, Darker than black, Fate/Zero, Gurren Lagan, Angle Beats, Baccano!
Mystery/Supernatural: Monogatari series, Death Note
Slice of Life: Tamayura: Hitotose, Usagi Drop, Kimi to Boku, Anohana(with drama)
Comedy: Nichijou, Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou
Adventure/Samurai: Samurai Champloo

I would recommend Code Geass to anyone who hasn't seen it, only 2 seasons and a really good story  |

animes that I watched recently and which I recommend :
Ao haru ride ( romance )
barakamon ( funny )
toradora ( romance too )( I ended up wanting all 3 girls to be with the MC )
Can someone recommend me something similar to Baka to test ??

Any suggestions about a good horror anime with no cheesy romance? But something with less irritating lead than Deadman Wonderland - sorry but this guy was just such a weenie. I enjoyed Ghosthunt and wish there was a second season. Although not horror it was very entertaining and romance was nicely downplayed.

I am looking for something similar to or as closely resemble Saiunkoku Monogatari. So far watched alot of anime but thise one is top1 for me. Any recommendation?
