Pairing an E2160 with Asrock 945GC-DDR667.
Running stable at 2.7ghz. smile.gif

BSEL mod was an hassle.

Can get 3Ghz stable? Try using aftermarket cooler or just suicide oc and get screenshot.
*
It depend on the CPU itself.
Not all CPU can do 3ghz at stock vcore.

This board has no vcore adjustment. Its nothing to do with temperature (aftermarket cooler)

No even a little vcore change on this mobo? Hope the bsel mod can increase the chances.
*
Not even a little unless u looking for vcore mod.
If an E2160 can do 3ghz at stock vcore on this board, it will be super good bargain isn't it?

i have notice tat all e2160 with the date 2008 are in the lower heatsink, and those 2007 still the normal one,if both run at stock speed, which will better ?
*
the bigger the heatsink, better heat dissipation it is. assume both heatsinks built in the same material.

size of heatsink determine the temperature of the processor, overclockability? no but technique/skill YES !

hmm interesting, sorry kucing i am in this thread just for one comment tongue.gif size of the heatsink does determine how much temperature can be dissipated, also the built of it. Thus if the temperature is controlled to a certain extent, your ability to Overclock is therefore higher. Thus disregarding the proc built and stepping in nature, if the variables were to only be temps and overclockability, i believe size does matter. Basic laws of heat eh>? technique and skill does help in reducing and making use with what you have to gain high speeds.
*
if u back to the Q asked by xk2, which E2160 version is more overclockable.
Certainly it not determine by the size the heatsink.

It is not a must to use stock heatsink to overclock. Thus it never a benchmark to show how overclockable is that particular processor is.

hey, im kinda new here. well, i just got my E2200 (dun ask me why i didnt get E21XX instead, n its OEM, so i got it cheap)
im using MSI 945G board here n heres the result i manage to push

user posted image

i cant seem to adjust the multiplier so, the furthest i could boot is on 265mhz. (mobo failed to boot when i try on 270mhz)
*
2.9ghz at stock vcore would be very good. smile.gif

My E2160 only managed to do 3ghz at stock vcore.
Goldfries' did 3.2ghz, kucingfight's did very well too.

Basically e2xxx max out around 2.8 to 3.0ghz for stock vcore.

Yay count me in,just got my hands on a cheap Pentium Duo Core E2140 1.6Ghz and a Gigabyte 945GCM motherboard with 1GB RAM and onboard graphic card.

Planning to oc above the 2.4Ghz mark

Got any advice and comments on this motherboard?

try bsel mod, see if the cpu boot on the board. smile.gif
then try OC from there.

ronho, try the bsel mod first. then use clockgen to push if BIOS oc option sux.
Flash to latest bios?

fyonne, u seem a bit confused here.

bsel mod is for CPU with 800mhz to be recognised as 1066mhz when slotted into the board.
it works on e4xxx series as well but not all motherboards support bsel modded CPU.

"dun want to fry it yet"....monitor the temperature and make sure heatsink fit nicely, what would u worry then?

my fren got an e2160 which is put on p35,it can overclock to 2.88 daily use, then i wan to see my modded e2160 if put on p35 can overclock more than 2.88 or not,but the result is cannot ,it only manage to archieve 2.6 sweat.gif  but in msi 945gc board,my modded e2160 manage to get 2.6ghz no problem,so i think it is not suitable to put an e2160 to p35 chipset

cannot wait to test my modded e2160 on my asrock wolfdale1333 board rclxm9.gif i have all hardware (proc+ram+mobo+ gc) in hand now but the casing and psu all in hometown cry.gif
*
not suitable to put e2160 on p35 chipset?
if then how my e2160 did 3ghz on my gaygaybyte?

ur friend e2160 != your e2160.
Its not the same, not all CPU with same overclockability.

geniousboy, no one will know how far you can OC.
ronho, you answer will be same like geniousboy's Q.

E2160 is meant to run at 1.6ghz, Intel never gurantee how far it can overclock.
Some E2160 max out at 333fsb, which is 3ghz, some max out at 350fsb.....
some even max out at 300fsb only.

So do you guys get it? Not all CPU manufactured have the same overclockability.
If so, why people busy looking for stepping, reading review, etc?

No free lunch dude.

No. Just do the mod to connect the pins that need to be connected. smile.gif
