Perhaps I am very naive to ground loop breakers. What does it do. What is the reason behind replacing the stock cap with the silver mica ?

due to my lack lack of knowledge, pls see how I install the RCA plug.

Ground loop breakers breaks ground loop. A typical ground loop (a symptom of bad grounding) injects 50-60Hz of noise into the ground. This is bad because you'll hear humming on the output. A ground loop breaker rids these issues. The capacitor there is to shunt all the possible noises away. Replacing it with a better cap that has a lower impedance on that frequency helps further. A good cap is needed here to make sure you suppress all the noise.

Local Farnell-Newark is a good place to buy stuffs from.

Get a student discount and you'll understand what i mean by that lol.

Best if possible avoid US purchase ATM, I don't know about you guys, but it's killing me because of it's exchange rate. There are better places to buy stuffs from. Farnell-Newark is good for PSU caps, look at the price of the Panasonic FMs, with free shipping you're good to go.

yeah .. now new Panasonic FM i see the spec is not bad the ESR is lower and size are smaller even price is cheaper than FC ??? but dunno about quality but i prefer Panasonic FC

Erm woot?

Panasonic FM >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Panasonic FC.

Price is cheaper probably due to the demands and different sources.

^that's what i'm telling the farnell skeptics for 10000 years.

Farnell kicks ass, tough there's a learning curve before you know how to make use of it.

EDIT: Eh? You ordered Pana FCs? The FMs are better leh.

Hi little,

I have a project to mod the USB-spdif converter, which I rightly see in your sig.

Can I know what clock u see for the PCM2702E? Is it a separate power source or u use the souce from USB ?

Do u mod the on board cap / XO ?

Do u know where to get XO with 10ppm, cheap and good.

it's a miniUSB powered DAC akin to AlienDAC/BantamDAC.

Nah, I didnt mod the on board caps, it's all Panasonic FMs. Probably going to change the output caps to purely film in the future though.

^errr?

Feedback is suppose to lower down distortion. Up to the point when too much of it leads to the increase of the higher harmonics distortion.

having lesser feedback gives more distortion and higher output impedance in fact. But since the distortions are mainly odd harmonics, it does give a falsified impression of "warmth"
