Seems like most Zero owner favor DY2000 > OPA627.
not using 627 anymore? or 627 is too dynamic/bright for vocal lovers?

have one question, if someone have a mismatch:
bright speaker + bright amp, or warm speaker + warm amp.

can we use op-amp to neutral it a bit?

i plan for the upgrade soon but i still source for the Elna Cerafine or Silmic that hard to get in malaysia just only can find in oversea if cant find i think i will get for either rubycon ZL or ZA series or sanyo oscon or just find some cap that is low impedance

for upgrade the cap is not hard but how to optimize filter thats too technical for me

True, you can get get OS-CON locally too. For me, they provide good upgrade, especially on digital circuit (on DAC supply and sort). I try put it on analog circuit too with positive result, depends on taste. I put them on opamp supply caps. I never try on signal coupling/decoupling though

Obviously spoken from experience! BTW, now I have to help him find the OPA627 or else he don't want the Zero coz "if Marantz uses Burr Brown on their CDP, it can't go wrong". 

So mikelanding, any chance of getting another set? ANYBODY out there who wants to sell your OPA627??? Thanks.

Well GodluvSxs has said that a better version of HDAM is coming out, in 6 weeks time. The designer of that HDAM said this.

went to hifi shop at one utama.asked uncle marantz to hook up marantz cd 6002 , marantz pm 6002 and epos 12.2.
results- midrange and high----good
            bass---so and so only.
conclusion- amp not good enough to drive epos.volume knob at 11 o'clock position and the bass still not there. this amp got 5stars from what hi fi magazine. 

next, we used same set up but changed amp to denon pma-700ae (this amp got 3 stars only from what hi fi magazine)
results- midrange and high---- good
            bass-good

according to uncle, my marantz cd 5001 with zero dac(with opa 657) should perform on par or slightly better than marantz cd 6002.
now my wallet already itchy to get that epos  and maybe will pair it with cambridge audio azur 640a v2.0 and 640cv2.0.
for another set up i.e. for dynamic.

I've been researching on the HDAM at Head-Fi since ccschua mentioned it a few days earlier. Everyone who has tried it seems to be very happy with the SQ. But ccschua also mentioned that a new opamp that can be even better will be out in a few months....

So... ccschua, we wait for the new opamp or we start a bulk on the HDAM? 

I'm interested to join if someone want's to bulk the HDAM...

The most unforgetable event, the KEF LS 3/5A.

The second most unforgetable sound, Harbeth SHL 5.

Others are just too expensive, and certain frequency just dont sound right.

The most interesting CD track, NIL Lofgren Live and Whitesnack live in Tokyo. (my god, isnt that whitesnake is heavy metal)

Not too crowded, just nice.

then drop by at tong lee.......want to know about internal mod on amp.

for zero dac owner tt i guess chua can bring his aad speaker.
i can bring my cd player,sounstage amp, interconnect and speaker cable.
then the rest of the owner can bring their own dac owr amp.
we need to get one good location......

Yeah lah. PKing the opamp and small upgrade that we have done. So I will bring power cord and DY2000. I will Madmen can bring the modded unit for test.

Yeah and I think the costs is not high. The improvement is basically coming from the removal of opamp, instead uses tube buffer, which is more desirable. It looks to me not somany component is involved, so it would be kind of easy.

Yes there is budget way and expensive way of doing things. I like the way zero dac is being implemented, the choice to opamp rolling. it is very fun rolling those opamp, if u have the time, try the LT 1057, LM 4562.

Lawrence says LM 4562 is suppose to challenge the OPA 627.

I notice AD are seldom used. if u look at AD 797, it was once so popular, that those marantz player sure have it.

so good to know the soundstage get upgraded.

^ problem is never really with the tube most of the time. It's getting someone to cut a hole through that steel, deburr the edges and attaching the necessary mounting hardware . I used to be able to do casework, but when i moved house, my BD RTX-1 was lost, probably stolen by the movers, so case work would be shiate hard.

Over here i just swipe my card to enter the mech lab . Going to build mah biggest amp yet. Hopefully my folks will find the time to send over my soldering iron. I'm planning to get a DAC to play with as a sideline.

I wana know... if u have a DAC and u want to use it with a cpu... how is it supposed to be connected.. say im using an aego-m speaker... how do i connect the speaker, dac and pc together?
