I have just acquired a cheap budget mobo, a rare new brand called J&W. What amazes me is that an RM175 mobo with solid caps for the cpu area. Gonna set up in a few moments and check out the BIOS.

So it wont share system RAM.
From my founding, built-in VGA limits memory overclocking because it shares system ram.

QUOTE(afosz @ Jan 26 2008, 08:11 AM) that is 2.3GHz, and for Orleans 3000+ it is pretty good already. last time i use the same proc too, but only get to reach until 2.2GHz. maybe due to limitation of oc features in my old mobo last time my orleans 3000+ did 2800-ish.... So, my hypothesis was right. If we use built-in VGA, it does reduces RAM overclockability. My DDR2 was limited to 550mhz max, adding Vdimm never helped. Now I have a PCI-e card already.... my RAM easily do 580mhz with 2.3Vdimm only.

QUOTE(Kva @ Feb 1 2008, 06:19 PM) my old system is an amd mobile barton 2500+ and memory at 233 (2-2-2-5) i used 1:1 ratio. 10x233= 2.33 ghz what do u mean amd cannot adjust 1:1?
barton is K7, this thread is about K8 DDR2. There is no 1:1 in K8 DDR2 because the memory controller runs at the same speed as clockspeed, and there is no way you can run 1:1 with this system unless you can run your memory at the same speed at your cpu clockspeed.

QUOTE(digswell @ Feb 1 2008, 12:42 PM) Last sunday i buy at JUST-PC (IMBI) Got 2 model can use with am2 mobo. 1 is cm hyper tx amd (if not worng is bout RM70) 2 is cm hyper tx2 can use in 775 and am2 price is RM95..so i nego a bit with the sellman ..he give me RM85.. tis cooler is quit good performance for low budget.. u can see many brand follow cm hyper tx ..like Xigmatek HDT-S1283(no sure is CM follow xigmatek or xigmatek follow CM) the xigmatek 'direct heatpipe' is gimmick. it's design is similar to hyper-tx (talking about the 9cm version), and performs similar, but priced much more expensive.
