You need a 3rd card for dual monitor on SLI system, and have to be ATI somemore. ianho also pissed with it last time. XD
*
sishh i know that way before u and he did.
infact i tried it before he did.. with a 8800 ultra and hd2600XT..

i am talking about 9800gx2..
sishh
on 3870 crossfire u cannot do dual monitor on crossfire
on reference 3870x2 u cannot do dual monitor on crossfire
on any 8800gt/gtx/ultra/gts on sli u cannot do dual monitor

but...
on asus hd3870x2 with both gpu enabled in CC and on Crossfire u can do dual monitor.
so thats y i was hoping the 9800GX2 was possible..

sishh.

so if u go to LYP and get a HIS 3870X2 u wouldnt be able to dual monitor on CF? Thats what u mean rite cstkl1?
*
yup only on that asus card it is possible
also another flaw or nvidia 9800gx2..

u cannot on dreamscene when running on dual monitor
but ati hd3870x2 u can run it regardless whether on CF or not or on 1-4 monitors doesnt matter..

Chill, not saying that you don't know. Just stating it out. smile.gif

Could it be still driver issue for 9800GX2, or technically unable to do so at all?
*
ah no its not a driver issue
my bad
just not happy with the 9800gx2
yeah gaming is fantastic
but this small things u know .. which made me love that asus hd3870x2 top

i read that there is an errata on x48 that points out compatibility issues with non compliant pcie 1.1 and also provide workaround .. perhaps dfi has yet provide a bios update to it..
http://www.intel.com/design/chipsets/specupdt/31912301.pdf
*
it applies to some cards only
reference hd3870x2 has no issue with foxconn p35 mars and dfi x38/x48

only this damn card
and dude this nothing to do with the x48/x38 chipeset
its a problem with their compatibility mode thingy ..

its a bios issue..

man this dfi sure is a headache, waiting my gc gecube 3870 turbo x 3 from moderno this monday, and will cf them...coz so hard to find the 3870x2 have to wait....
*
dude that bios is just a 45nm temp fix
i am in direct contact with dfi FAE and Asus FAE in taiwan
so trust me when i say i tried every option there is
i even manage to ask asus taiwan to lend dfi fae a 3870x2 top..
and dunno what happened but some mis communication in a loss email dfi thought they were not getting it
and ended up getting 2 3870x2 from ati.. DUMBASSES
told them from the beggining that the reference card works..
and luckily asus/dfi has been ccing me all their emails..
so i had a copy and forwarded it back to dfi fae for their contact window to open..

thats y.. so frust..
i hate this card the gx2.. only good in gaming fps.. boosting games that already high on fps..

that day when eric came to my house with his whole rig to test
when i saw the card work.. sishh never felt like want to cekik somebody as much as that..
