if you have a compatible 802.11n wireless adapter, your speed can up to 5 times of 54mbps.

Here is the brief description of 802.11n

yea. it is draftN for extreme. But anyway, you do need that your wireless devices (macbook, or whatever laptop or gadgets) that can support wifi draft-N. Else, you will only get 54mbps or lower, depend on your wireless devices.

yea.. sure. as long as your wireless devices can support 802.11n, then no problem.

well extreme can share harddisk as well, so i can choose my harddisk storage so let said if my 500GB harddisk die i can replace it myself, but if the time capsule die u need to go to visit apple. haha cost u $$. well that's my thinking only. but time capsule is good as well, but extreme i think is pretty enough for me.

if both device run draft-N, then the speed should more than 108Mbps, theoretically.

well.. the price of time capsule ($469 sg)is about the price airportextreme ($288)plus a 320gb harddisk without any casing.. i think is cheaper if u straight buy time capsule rather than buy another external harddisk for it.. the price is only rm300 different. however it is just my opinion la.. is good to have external harddisk so u can bring it around...

well actually i'm going to bid the airport extreme instead of buying for apple store. but also depends on my luck can i bid a cheaper one. i'm bidding for brand new still unopen those. well what extreme lose is the time machines function work with time capsule instead of extreme.

just a few words of wisdom:

when you run 802.11b, don't expect a troughput of 12mbps. it will be more likely 2mbps max

when it's on 802.11g, you'll roughly get 20+mbps, if you are lucky

when it's 802.11n, then i suppose you can get somewhere in the 50's

just don't be dissapointed, thinking that the 108mbps can outperform a solid 100mbps ethrnet cable, which has a consistency of about 80mbps.

suiryuu, take note of these.

In theory, It is 108mbps. But in the real world, usually you get around 80-90% of the speed due to 'wireless'. If it is further from the wifi router, the speed is much lesser wink.gif

don't quote me wrong. it's more like 40-50% efficiency, which means at 108mbps, you are likely to get 40 - 55mbps
