hmmph.. action!! macbook.. so when upgrade to the Air?
PS : I'm flanked by my D600 Gentoo Linux Powered Laptop on my left (1400x1050 14in screen) + 22in Acer LCD monitor in the center as 2nd monitor and on my right an X60 running windows. I also a bit headache now.. Will need to go out again soon for dinner.. Have not even seen how are the pictures. |

Just come back from birdpark ... so great ! i had learned a lot from
vincent and valho (and others sifu too)....and tested many lens... We TT until 4.30pm (vincent , vincent friend , me , my friend and valho), talk about photo , gear , technical skill , lens molest and more! really enjoying.. ***i forgot to pay for my food during TT time....really sorry for the boss Looking to my photo now...will post some later...i hope i can learn again from you guys ... finally i seen goldfries , friendly guy! tired ... take a nap first |

wow.. all sifu very kengs..
 sorry i cant catch up with your guys just now, coz i was teaching my friend how to use the prosumer camera in a better way.. he just got it from his bro.. so i was explaining and experimenting aperture, shutter speed and ISO with him, and that takes hours .. will try upload my pics later GOOD JOB everyone !! Lowyat.Net Forumers in action #1 - hi birdie birdie. Now stay still  #2 - molesting the L... L lens  #3 - this time no need to stand near near already. Shoot from far and sharp sharp !  #4 - photog in action  #5 - photog in action  #6 - the birds are very 'friendly'. Very reachable this time around  #7 - TT time  #8 - The more I turn, the better the mushroom look like. Yeh !  #9 - come on, turn turn. I don't want to shoot your back side!  so these are the forumers in action i got. not so soon after we entered, we splitted. i oso shoot using 50mm prime that day... if you don't mind pp your pic, try increase the contrast by +10, then resize to small resolution before applying sharpen effect. |

for me i just check exposure, white balance and color contrast, if ok then export to jpeg, otherwise adjust it as needed. Bring jpeg to photoshop for resizing and watermark.
Seldom sharpen my photos though, though i did use it on a few of the shots this time |

usually after resize (enlarge or reduce) the image will be a bit soft. I normally won't touch up the contrast via pp, i just boost the colour & contrast using camera setting. Btw, last saturday was a bit challenging because first, i don't have good fast telephoto lens, secondly i got to snap the birds very close to get more details resulting a bit camera shake or worse thing the birds run away... Most of my bird pictures turn out soft (20%) - reason because i too eager to use big aperture on my 50mm lens, and strangely minor touch up (increase contrast and sharpen effect) make the image much better. Some photographers don't encouraged pp because the idea of we can make mistake just simply because the "error" can be corrected - instead try the best to get the results directly from the camera. Added on January 21, 2008, 2:37 pmlast batch from me for now. Birds of a feather flock together... 4.  5.  6.  Picture 6 seems to be out of place. However, it was taken from the KL Bird Park. The staff uncovered the story. The monkey was from the forest within the area. They managed to rescue the poor fella from a fight. Apparently it was seen happily clinging around the mother until an unfortunate turn around change the fate of this poor little monkey. The mother got bullied by other monkeys. There was a huge struggle. Within seconds, they saw the poor fella lying motionless on the floor. Immediately the staff picked it up and provide medical treatments. Not sure, on the fate of the mother.... what a story, yar! Hhmm ....darn, I wish I was there to witness the entire scenario. LOL *sorry la, don't intend to offend anyone. it just looked that way*anyway i waited for the crowd to go off first then slowly take my time to camp and wait here and there. lesser human around, less stress / threat to the birds. more area to move around and compose. ----- *ok anyway since we're always only showing pic, perhaps we could also share about which of our shots we found interesting and what you went through to get it. i think of all my shots, this one took the longest to get it right. damn tiring but most rewarding. btw i was under trees, so bird shit can come any time. the place also probably one of the most smelly area. what i had to wait for? 1. subject to come to the food 2. subject to not go away 3. peacock at the back to be at the right angle and at the same time have the subject not straying away from points 1 and 2. damn tiring. aim. focus. wait. arrghh wait wait. finally i get what i wanted. I think I spend quite a long time taking the few close-up of the Brahminy Kite, the eagle was very near the fence so had to go manual focus and burst a few shots, forgot how many I took, but it was quite a lot haha. had to focus and burst, then refocus and burst, coz the eagle was turning its head. some one from photomalaysia mention the eagle looks sad, I think it's too coz it's was making noise that sounded sad
  most of my shots were close-up, something that I couldn't do with my 17-85 during the zoo trip |

@katheryna : love your pictures #7 for the bird on pathway. and #9 for portraying the scene of the birds and feeding time (i think).
@asrolsani, i think your shots generally have the composition but spoiled by the meshes. i see you're using kit and 50mm. the 50mm would be great for nice bokeh. all you have to do is go closer to the birds. and how's your white balance for that day? cos the pics seem dark, like under-exposed. |

hehe. well for those in enclosure, i usually go up until my lens touch the mesh. don't care wan la. just go near, of course if the bird come near then move la.
for mine, i use auto WB only. and Av mode too. take JPG files can la np wan. Added on February 3, 2008, 4:48 pm@kat, flamingo shot is nice but i donno whether to like or hate the reflection of the sky. the moment is nice though.the eagle shot, i think better if you have give more space around the head area of the eagle so it shows more background.
