I doubt it's scripted as to what Andy did but I'm sure the certain media will exploit his action and make it sound like its another plotted marketing strategy to pull in more fans and make him more favorable. I noticed that he wanted to jump off from the edge much earlier than he actually did but it was too far for him, therefore he went to the the next pavement to make the jump. With that much (I know people are countable noun but in this case, I'm sure his fans on that day were just uncountable)fans and I'm sure he is exhausted after all his performance, he was still able to rationalize out the right decision to defend his fan from being beaten up for no apparent reason.
