Hey guys,

Wondering if anyone here is able to help (sorry, if this question has been answered somewhere in this thread before. sad.gif )

I recently ter-deleted my "games" folder on the PSP, hence the reason why I suddenly am not able to play my games though the folder was empty. I've tried the method of reformatting my memory card, but it's still the same - ie: Games are inside, but it cannot detect.

Any idea as to how this can be solved? :S
*
Alright angelceres,it depends on what sort of games you're talking about.

If you're talking about homebrews,it should be like this.

Assume that the homebrew you're trying to install is Mario.

ms0:/PSP/GAME/Mario/eboot.pbp

*IMPORTANT : Your "GAME" folder should be in CAPS and it should not have S behind it.It's just GAME.

If you're talking about iso/cso games,it is a little different.

Assume that you're trying to get a game named "Shooter.iso" to work.

ms0:/ISO/Shooter.iso

The rule is the same, folder must be in CAPS and it shouldn't have an S behind it.

You earlier mentioned that you formatted your memory stick. If you formatted it on your psp,it should automatically create all the necesarry directories with the right names.

Hope that helps ya' biggrin.gif

aww..cmon man..i also want to know

like the moderator wanna check what all people post,

hey,can i use 4.01 ctf theme on psp 3.90 m33 ??
*
Ok lah.Do the following.

Place the moviename.iso file in ms0:/ISO/VIDEO directory. Then go to your XMB (psp main menu) and hit either select or home depending on your psp firmware.Once done, scroll down and select your UMD Video in the "ISO Mount" option.

You'll need a UMD disc in order to get this piece of hack to work.It doesn't matter if you have a game UMD or anything like that.Any UMD should work just fine.

*IMPORTANT : This iso video feature can only be used on firmwares higher than 3.52m33-3*

If anyone is wondering,i didn't provide any links to movie isos so i don't think what i'm doing is illegal.Also,5zal06,make sure you don't distribute iso's in here tongue.gif

As for the CTF themes,no they won't work.
4.01 CTF themes are for 4.01 firmwares only.Same goes to every other custom theme.
*Some flash theme parts will work on various firmwares like the battery icon,bgwave,01-12.bmp and a few more, but no it doesn't apply to CTF themes*

Yea,a folder named VIDEO in the ISO folder.

Can't provide links to iso videos. It's illegal and it's not allowed in here.

As for the psp sticks, search for a thread named "PSP MODDING",and you'll find a few memory stick identification links that i've posted in there. That most probably will help you to identify your stick.

and.is there an easy way to upgrade to 4.01??

i see ur guide but.it looks easy but im just afraid of bricking

last time i upgrade to 3.90..i using a software then just paste the file to psp.is really that easy,i hope there will be something like that to upgrade to 4.01
*
Alright.A good friend of mine named dumbfounded made this 4.01m33 easy-installer.It does everything for you.All you need to do is to run it on your PC.

Download it here!

Once it has placed all the required files to the right directory, all you need to do is to set your kernel to 3.XX (Depending on your firmware),and run the installer on your psp.

Yo Playboy..i tried the way that you suggested but still wont work. I download the themes already but still cant use the themes.I have no idea why..The CXMB plugins that i use is dl from the guides that u make in other forums,so is it plugins got prob or i just need more time to explore my psp..lol..or should i reformat my mspd and install everything all over again? or is the anything particular that i missed out?
*
I don't understand why it isn't working for you..sorry.You can try formatting your memory stick as you said, and then try the CXMB 3.2.1 again. If it doesn't work, then try the other CXMB's below which are compatible with your firmware.

Hmm,what firmware are you on? *Can't remember lol*

Since the CXMB 3.2.1 isn't working for you,you might want to try the CXMB plugin which is really meant for your psp.

1) CXMB for 3.90m33 ONLY

2) CXMB for 3.71m33 ONLY

Don't you want to do it by yourself?
If you want to,then you should go and find a person who has a hacked unit with him/her.
Once you've got once, post here and we'll help you out.

sorry man, cant help u with that. the only way is to go to the store you bought it from and ask them to ship your psp to the manufacturer to check the firmware version.
after that they'll so some tests to see whether that is the firmware. after some 30-40days they'll ship it back to you in a box with the firmware written on a gold plated card.
laugh.gif joking2. haha.
just go to your Settings>System Settings>System Information on the main menu (in other words, the XMB) nod.gif

haha nice one xD

Guys, help? My PSP (firmware m33) got crashed by virus... The picture and PSP folder is basically gone-case, both folder are replaced by tons of rubbish files with special characters as name (i.e. one file is named as ^%*&^$@). I can't delete it, can't move it, and to make things worse - it wiped my PSP folder clean till I can't detect any of my 'ahem' games at all.

If I reformat the memory stick, any idea how to get it working again? I don't have any recent backup, and my PSP folder is now rubbish. Really having a wonderful time here - first, my bro crash his car and now my PSP crash as well. Argh...
*
Right, virus? No way.The worst thing that can happen to a psp is a brick,no virus attacks as far as i know.It COULD be a USB error. It once happened on my Mac when i removed the USB cable without ejecting it first. But all it did was to remove the GAME folder, that's all.

In your case,i don't think your firmware crashed. If it crashed, you will not be able to boot your psp up.Seriously.I'd say,go ahead and format your memory stick.

It depends on your custom firmware. On some earlier firmwares, you need to press the home button in order for the VSH menu to appear. If it still doesn't work, then you most probably have it disabled in recovery mode.

*Recovery mode : Hold the off switch for around 2-4 seconds, then HOLD R and boot your psp up.You're now in recovery mode*

Go to configuration and enable the VSH menu.

Mind, don't mess with options that you aren't sure about as it can cause unecesarry problems.

Added on September 15, 2008, 2:04 pmharrychoo, well plugins. If it really is a plugin, then it can be disabled in the plugins option in recovery mode.See above ^^ on how to get to recovery mode.

You can also reformat your stick or just delete the corresponding plugin, but meh..just disable it.Much easier tongue.gif

hi, want to ask a question...
i've read this :

Clue #2 For PSP Owners: MagicGate Unknown and Incorrect User Capacity

  1. In your PSP Menu screen, go to Memory Stick, press the Triangle button, then select Information. Genuine SONY will display as MagicGate Supported. If you see Unknown or Unsupported then you know you have a FAKE Sony!

want to ask if sandisk also will say MagicGate Supported if ori ?
how about m2 using adapter ?
*
Yes,SanDisk memory sticks will show "MagicGate Supported" if it's original.I'm not sure if there are fake Sandisk sticks anyways tongue.gif

oww i see, thnx

whats the diff between 4.01 m33-2 / 3.93 m33 / 3.90 m33 ?

the shop near my place say 3.90 m33 is the stable one to play ehem*
now seller lyn sell psp with 4.01 m33-2 ...
i read somewhere many (outside malaysia ) use 3.93
*
The difference between all those three custom firmwares is the firmware itself.

I disagree with what the shopdealer told you regarding the stability of the firmware. All three firmwares were made by the very same developer (Apart from 3.93m33),and they all posses the very same functions thus making them all similar and equally good. There is no such thing as "This is more stable than that and so on".

4.01m33-2 is very good and 99% bug free.I've been using it for a period of time now,and i see nothing wrong with it.I had the very same feeling when i was back on 3.40oe-a and when i was on 3.52m33-4.It actually isn't the firmware,it is the user itself. It depends on what you want to do on your psp.For example, many prefer 3.71m33 and 3.52m33 for their plugins.
