i downloaded some demos from PSN

Anyone can help on this?

go to the recovery menu (boot up hold R button) > configuration
and check if your game loading driver is set to m33. if it's original or OE etc you will need a umd in the drive to play.
usually it resets to default (UMD needed) when u update.

Well I have no comments for the unit replacement part, but there's something I would like to clarify:

If the 'dot' is indeed white, it should be a STUCK pixel. If it's black, then it's a DEAD pixel.

Judging by the conversation that you had with the seller, I think chances are slim that he would repair it for you, let alone giving you a 1-to-1 exchange. I couldn't give any comments about it because I wasn't involved in this before. Maybe someone who has experience can share what can be done.

Anyone here to help out?

sad to say there will be nothing u can do about except change the screen by your own cost. the shop will not do a THING, you can try all you want, but that's just a waste of time.

they wont help u change for just 1 stuck pixel, and keep on saying u dint check properly when u bought it. in a way, that makes sense.. don't care if you don't know or a complete newbie, your loss.

seems like alot of ppl getting a psp & dunno what to check, here goes :

the basic things to check when getting a new psp is :

1. screen (dead/stuck pixel)
2. buttons (functioning, nothing stuck or watever)
3. exterior, case condition
4. umd slot
5. Memory stick slot
6. Wifi
7. USB port
8. speaker sound
9. firmware
10. battery

i think that's it, take note & remember ppl.

the most common problems would be 1,2, & 3. but just to make sure, check EVERYTHING.

next time, if you really don't know anything, BRING a friend a long who knows.

post edited.

currently the few that everyone favors is 3.90 m33-2 & 4.01 m33-2

for me i'm using 5.00 m33-2 for the psx games. testing & trying to run some. tongue.gif

is yours phat or slim? for the phats, the 1.50 kernel is needed.

if it's a slim, or even if it's the phat with the 1.5kernel it still doesnt work. take a look at this.
it happened to me once after i flashed the thing to 4.01.. then i remembered i haven't installed the 1.5 kernel on my phat yet smile.gif

http://my.afterdawn.com/larrylje_redwings/..._entry.cfm/2318

in short, here are my notes :

1. make sure game is in ms0:/ISO
2. shorten the file name
3. (on pc) disable read only & hidden in file properties
4. (recovery menu) configuration > umd > no umd m33 driver
5. (recovery menu) advanced > advanced configuration >
Plain modules in UMD/ISO [disable]
Execute BOOT.BIN in UMD/ISO [disable]
XMB plugins [enable]
GAME plugins [enable]
POPS plugins [enable]
6. exit, restart & try again. good luck

Wow, that's new to me. Tried pressing the brightness button? Tried removing the memory stick and booting (Seeing that the MSPD LED keeps flashing)? If you're still unable to boot your unit, try accessing recovery mode, and format flash 1 (Under Advanced).

That's right. HealthBar I would personally suggest you to browse through the first post first before you start asking, though. There will be no flaming, in any manner, around in this thread.

Please do report them to me (as threadstarter) or to Ninja (as the forum moderator), should you come across any.

YES to umd games that are in ISO/CSO format.
NO to home brews. (home made games) or atleast a certain few.

ISO is the uncompressed file of the game. CSO is the compressed one, so by theory ISO games should load faster, but CSO saves space as it shaves off about 20%+ of capacity of the game.

CSO still works, although faster or not we really don't know. an extra second or 2 to wait won't kill.

most wouldn't mind. overall it would be CSO ftw.
