Yes, technically if there is anything wrong with your Touch and you bring it back to Apple Malaysia, they will not repair for you as it had been "jailbroken". However, you can always "jailbreak" it first before you send it to Apple Malaysia to claim warranty. iPhone or Touch is so boring with default apps.

There isn't an 'MSN Messenger' native application currently available for both the iPhone/iTouch. However, installing the other NATIVE app alternatives such as Apollo IM and MobileChat will require the jailbreaking of your iTouch. Or, you could just use one of the many web messengers which were custom developed specifically for the iPhone/iTouch.

In other words, there is a little 'hacking' involved before you can install your native IM client. Warranty will remain as long as you manage to revert the effects of the jailbreaking, AKA restoring it. Also, don't be foolish and start telling the Apple retailers about such things, or your warranty is as good as gone..... wink.gif

It's not, any problems just restore and you're iPod's good. Not hard to restore, just connect to iTunes and wait for your iPod menu page and hit restore.

No, Apple won't bother what you did to your iPod. It's just that you have to do it right (jailbreaking) and try not to mess with the System Files when SSH-ing.

iTunes & Apple won't detect anything, iTunes just sync your medias and let you know if there's any update for the iPod software update. Just like Windows Update sort of thing.

Rumors saying that new firmware 1.1.3 might give you problem as you cannot downgrade to older firmware hence sticking with stock and default iPod. No jailbreaking, unless future hacks occur.

Added on January 14, 2008, 9:26 pmBtw, percentage of bricking or more defined spoil your iPod is very little. It's best that you run firmware 1.1.1, I can guide you more for easy jailbreaking steps and getting *toot* apps.

IM Client app for the iPhone/iPod touch is the well known Apollo or web-based IM Client (http://iphone.beejive.com) which you can access from Safari on your device which is better than the app as you don't need to install anything, just go to the site and you're good to go. Contact list syncs well and no hassle just about anything.

Apps might crash from time to time depends on situation, same with Safari but it's better run the IM client on the web.

Added on January 14, 2008, 9:31 pmIf you run 1.1.1, go to:

1-http://jailbreakme.com
2-Installer icon will be on your home screen, you've done jailbreaking.
3-Open Installer, let it refresh all the sources.
4-Add source (most right button on below), http://www.applerepo.com
5-Click refresh, after done go to the Apps list. There's tons of apps over there and if you scroll more, go to iPhone Apps 1.1.1 then download any of the iPhone apps right over the air. No hassle.

You have to use WiFi connectivity.
