its old, yeah. heck its released in 1982, and with 80's special effects. owh and no space fights , light saber duels, or even an alien. its not as popular here compared to the other popular sci fi shows like alien, star wars and waht not. but as far as sci-fi movies go in envisioning the future no movie comes ever sooo close, this movie is old but this movie shows a somewhat very believable future. you will not even notice that some of the things in the movie was weird or futuristic then but no more now.

QUOTE
Professor Chris Frith, of the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience at University College, London, was impressed by the way the film used science as an integral part of its narrative. The Voight-Kampff empathy test, for example, is used by the police in the film to differentiate androids - who have memories implanted and are programmed with artificial emotions - from humans. "The Voight-Kampff empathy test is not far away from the sort of thing that cognitive neuroscientists are actually doing today," said Prof Frith.
thats only one of the things

the movie is complex and slow, which would not appeal to a lot of casual movie goers who demand super nice laser fights and simple save the princess storyline. but its very rich, it asks the eternal question that we all seek to answer but do it in a very sophisticated way that doesnt insult your intel. the "villians" are not bad, they are just like us and behave what we would do in that situation. which makes it click even more and further propels the questions of the movie forward. understanding this movie is like understanding a complex poem about life, it doesnt answer your questions but it makes you question more, and in each added read you discover something new, a symbolism that you missed before or another question. and as far as movies go this is one of the best if not the best at it.

it is one of the best movies ever made and its the best adaption of philip k dicks work. period.

if you are a movie buff its a must watch, not once but multiple times. its a classic, and one fully deserving it what it achieves is something that even classics cant come to. its like metropolitan of the silent era, a picture of the future and a poem of ourselves.

10/10

omg... my final semester... tortured by this film. The combination of noir, mystery and sci-fi, plus all kinds of little hints and clues along the way and the personal interpretation of the ending. This film is permanently imprinted in my cranium.

haha, well...overall, the movie is pretty slow for me..most people who mistakes it for some modern action flicks like those which we are exposed to nowadays will get disappointed..

however, the ending really impacts me a lot..the villian of the movie is not evil for the sake of being evil..his purpose is to become a human or to be more accurate, the ability to show emotion..which is impossible..the moment when he killed his maker, does his incapability of showing his emotion make you think that he is evil?

the ending..his dying word..definitely imprinted in my mind..lol..it is the most beautiful ending of all the movies i ever watched..anyway, when i read up about it in wiki, it says that that line is in fact asked by the actor to put into the movie..so in the actual novel, that line is not existed..

anyway, this movie reminds me of A.I (Artificial Intelligence) which is directed by Steven Spielberg some time ago..tongue.gif

In a nutshell, i love this movie for its ending..cheers!

Google will be your best friend but the Final Cut is dubbed as the Definitive Cut - the story that Ridley Scott intended to show the world but couldn't due to politics in the studio company.

No longer. Ridley Scott disowned the Director's Cut long ago even though he preferred it to the theatrical version. In fact, he wasn't directly involved with it, it was more of an 'approval' thing. He did have full control over the Final Cut though. smile.gif

well, i read from wiki that the theatrical version has the voice of Harrison Ford as the narrator. However, in the director's cut, it is no longer there.
