Below is the spec of my coming PC.. pls advice whether ENERMAX Tomahawk/Liberty 500W is sufficient for my gaming rig or not.. i know the more watt the better but i'm really tight on my budget and i feel that this PSU may meets the power req... No OC-ing or any mod.. all at stock speed....

Core:
AMD64 X2 5200+/Intel DuoCore E4500
2*1GB XMS2 Corsair DDR2 800Mhz
ATI HIS 3870 512MB DDR4 (single GC only)
160 GB HDD
Gigabyte mobo
Audigy 2 ZS sound card

Accessories:
2*120mm LED fan
4*80mm LED fan
2*UV light
2*cold cathode light

Misc : DVD-rom, CD-rom, DVD-writer

500W far far enough le

i thought ATI 3870 512MB req quite alot of power? how bout the X2/Duo COre?
plus, i've added many fans and uv lights...

those each fans used less power nia...u no OC right? then 500W is enough

how much for this rig??

Sorry to hijack.

Lets say if a Q6600 and a 8800GTS 320MB is added into the picture. Does 500W sounds sufficient? I'm having a problem with stability which I am suspecting could be PSU related.

500W enough le...450w also can run ATI HD2900XT le...

liberty 500w should be able to run your pc w/o problem.

I'd recommend the new Silverstone ST50F which is selling now for around rm250++

anyway... silverstone 560w (cheaper price) also should run your pc w/o problem.

Good 500W is more than good enough.450W can power SLI liao.

how about the amps req? For ATI 3870 it req at least 26A right?
But this enermax has got 22A only. How do v calculate the amps?

If v add the 2*12V rails it would be 32A. Is this the way to cal?

both of this quote, recommended 550W, especially for those fan and light, light will use more power but fan not, however, 550W is good for future upgrade, and provide more stable power.

1st of all, i wanted to get 550W PSU rather than 500W but the brand that i trusted is only Enermax and not others. I cant find any 550W PSU from Enermax other than 600W. But 600W is over my budget. It is about RM600 while the 500W is only RM440.

Secondly, if i were to spend RM600 on a PSU that is future proof/ to ease for future upgrades, what if the PSU got burnt during these few yrs (warranty expired) then it would waste my RM600.

So what i plan now is to get the best PSU for my specs without further expanding my budget. And i think that i will not upgrade anymore in the foreseeable future (i.e 2yrs) but might just add RAMs and that's all.

well silverstone 560w is good too. many ppl using it. either brand of enermax, gigabyte, silverstone do good job..just the pricing (value) problem and.. of course electronic thing sure will have some faulty just depends on your luck, even you buy the best brand among all.

since it wrote 384w(32A), then according to the label, it should provide max 32A on +12v rail, which means it provide more than enough for your current pc, you can use it w/o worrying.

normally you can't use 16A + 16A, but you need to take the total wattage. in this case, it show 384w / 12 = 32A. but let say others psu may wrote 16A + 16A but with total wattage of 300W, which means 300 / 12 = 25A. which is maybe a bit under power for your pc.

Enermax? I LOL'ed.

Gigabyte Odin GT user here. gigabyte psu give me a great and stable power
But please dont count Corsair HX series PSU in.
That is too powerful.

the latest/current enermax models has a tendency of going kaboom.

shawty himself has gone through a few (i think 3) enermax PSUs that died.

Thought about Crosair PSU? They don't just make good ram but also good PSU as well. What attract me the most if because of 5 years warranty.

ok.
its very simple.
Odin GT has P-Tuner which is the utility software.
It can control the PSU fan speed, read the psu temperaure, read 4 thermal sensors temeperaure, read the Wattage usage.

While Odin Pro just like normal psu only. Cant use the software.

But the price is different about Rm50 if not wrong.

add: the Odin GT also comes with 4 Thermal sensors which can let you place any component surface to check the temperature.

Odin GT got software can monitor those wattage but pro don't have.

So are you using one?
Is it reliable? Will it provide stable power?
But how come this PSU is so good when gigabyte is actually manuf mostly on mobo?

Why not just ask me who experienced the 3 dead Enermax PSU's?

1) Enermax Liberty 500W died in 2 Months 29 days.
2) Enermax Liberty 620W died in 3 months.
3) Enermax Galaxy 1000W died in 3 and a half months.

You called that the best PSU manufacturer?

Now i'm using Silverstone.
I got 3 in my hand.

1) Silverstone OP650 - Already 8 months and working perfectly.
2) Silverstone DA750 - Already 5 months and working perfectly.
3) Silverstone OP1000 - Already 4 & a half months and working perfectly.

None of my Silverstone PSU's ever gave me problems.

as i explain b4, take consideration on total wattage then divided by 12, you get the total amperage. and yeah, gigabyte odin gt 550w can power up your pc.

As far as i know.. ATI 3870 req a PSU with at least 26A rite?

So does this Odin has 26A? I checked it only has 18A.. or do i have to total up all the rails?
