i reckon this is because your 605 wont allow any kind of processing on PCM sources. Its like having 'pure direct' from the player. Other words your 605 just pass the signal from player to speakers.

DTS & DD get processed. thats y they sound better than unprocessed, plus they been amplified to match your settings.

go buy bitstream blu-ray player lah BD30. all hd audio will rock ur house.

See, I knew that you like to watch doraemon in hd.

Ehh ..... you pay manyak attention to the moaning part, I watch Protege sampai mengantuk leh. I guess I will fall asleep if I watch Jay Chou in Initial D on blu-ray.

I guess the only two Chinese movies I like on blu-ray is either Infernal Affairs or Flashpoint aje. Hopefully, they will bring SPL on blu-ray.


Maybe, it's a sign from God to hint you to change to Yamaha RX-V3800.


Yeah, it could be the case here but I have auditioned the RX-V1800, confirmed that their Cinema DSP works on PCM soundtracks. Had to carry my PS3 to the shop to test. Charm ..... However, to be frank, the internal decoding by the amp will sound much better than PS3's PCM output.

RX-V3800 is for super eilte like RX only.

Err, I don't know, can we really say much better? From my research around the net, yes, it's better, but most of them says something like "little"", not "much".

I think the V1800 should be good enough if u don't need those network receiver thing....V3800 or Z11 will be overkill liao...

After several specs comparision & sound listening session .. the Yamaha V1800 is definately the killer. the background is indeed very queit and the music is clear & transparent when playing Eagles as demo. Next, demo'ed gladiator with DTS .. in the beginning chapter of the war scene, sound of the arrow is so real that you can feels as if its flying across you. Eventually i am back with not empty handed this time. which model ? you go figure it out.

er.... DD/DTS processing thru the amp?
i dun think so, as its a direct signal as multi pcm nia, no decoding on the amp part

i really dunno why, for chris botti its minimal, but can hear the differece, but hor... in protege, its major difference, after i switch to DTS, i can reduce my volume by 10

so when u source feed in digital source

the DAC convert it to analogue....then output ur speaker

Same thing happen to all sources. But RX says the quality different between PCM and DD/DTS.

Not fair lah comparing to Marantz or Denon.
