toda,

2 female buns may work well when they are young. Some get bonded for life and there is still a possibility where they will mature and those hormones starts to kick in and they will soon start fighting. These are some of the possibilities that you have to consider. If you are lucky, they may be bonded but if you are not, your younger sister would find herself in some trouble trying to separate the buns.

The fact is, rabbits do not feel lonely like how us human perceives. Most of the time it is us that feel lonely for them. Getting a pair of opposite sexes for first time owners definitely a NO NO. you may want to consider spaying when they are after 6 months as another alternative. But personally, I would advice you getting just 1.

Beside from buying, you can consider adopting. You have to be very careful and be vigilant when you pick kits at petshops. Make sure the environment is clean. I have seen rabbits with all sorts of parasites from pet shops. So use lots of discretion when making your purchases.

As far as location to get rabbits, most petshops do offer.

Hope you find the right bunny for your sister. Good Luck...

oic......i really didnt know bunnies can stay alone, i tot they are sociable pets like hamsters - prefer 2 hav partners

since thats the case i'll jz get 1, let my sisters hav twice the care for tat bunny. So i guess it doesn't matter if i get a male or female bun right?

adopting, hmmm....maybe a good idea, since a bunny needs care, n im gonna take care of 1.......win-win situation but prob is i dun get 2 choose the colour, but still worthwhile 2 consider

btw, with ur experience, mayb can u share which r the petshops recommended n which 1 i should avoid......

QUOTE
a. Alfafa Hay is best for young rabbit (kit) below 6 months
b. Timothy Hay is best for rabbit above 6 months

hi guys, i've just got 2 small rabbit 2 days ago. 1 black and 1 white. i think both age around 3 months old or so. the white one has a little stain on it, and i see that rabbit behaves quite like cat whereby they will lick their paws and then wipe part of their body as dry cleaning. but then my mum went and sort of bathed the white one... and use hair dryer to dry it... well she stopped half way cos scared that the sound is too noisy, but that rabbit got scared pretty bad... then today as i got back from work.. i saw it lied there motionless by the water tray while the black one is still as active as b4. then i touched it thinking that it's sleeping but no matter what i do it still didn't respond... and then i found out that ... it died! omg...  sad sad... i felt so guilty.. that poor thing, just been with us for 2 days and he died... sob sob... i'm trying to find out the root cause, i suspect probably he got sick from the washing and drying stuff that he might have gotten a fever or caught a cold.... i'm still new... hope u guys can give a pointer or two. thanks....  sad.gif
