thanks for the replies guys. i took the advice of separating them in the meantime and bought another cage. RM45. Will be selling the cage next week for about rm35 (negotiable) after getting the bunnies neutered. so those from penang can PM me.

Anyways, the vet i enquired about seems to be the most reputable one on the Island. So if he says its 60/40, i guess thats the best chance i've got...regardless of what questions i asked before letting him neuter the bunnies. Unless there is a pro-rabbit vet available here...i'm gonna have to trust in luck and karma. Hope the bunnies did some good karma in their previous life to survive this and hope my karma stands up too...

No other choice...after reading thru this site and some other websites...seems neutering is the ONLY way to go if one wants to keep 2 bunnies in the same cage.

On a lighter note, abangbrother, the litterbox is probably the most comfortable spot available in the cage. perhaps u can make some sort of flooring with hard cardboard for him to rest on. Atleast your bunny knows how to use litter box, i got tired of training mine after the first week. probably they were too young then(2months +). so now they poo everywhere in the cage. It doesnt matter though coz when i let them run round the house they never pee and would hold it till they're back in their cage. So i guess the entire cage is a litterbox and yeah, they find comfort there.

First of all, I am very proud of you because you have made a good decision to get them neutered. Not many owners are able to take this step because most are still very experimental about their rabbits and breeding. Will pray for the success of your rabbits' neutering and hope they have a speedy recovery (which they will if the operation is smooth). I truly understand your circumstances about the vet but I believe being a responsible owner itself is a noble thing and if touch wood anything happens, at least you have good intentions. Your intentions are much respected.

Young rabbit may not be able to use litter tray but you could be persistent about it. Usually they will have a preferred corner to poo and pee. You have to be vigilant to spot which corner of the cage your bunny prefers. Once you identify, just leave the litter tray there. teongpeng has given good advice on having a portion of the cage covered with a solid surface where your bunny will find comfort. Through my experience, my rabbits have their own litter trays and they usually pee on the litter tray without much accidents. But they do poo out of the litter tray and those poo are caught by the tray below the cage. For me, I do not mind the poo as long as the pee are all in the litter tray. Coz the pee is the one with the worst odour.

you can order from petsmore if you want... they will inform you if the stock arrive. In the mean time, you can buy other bedding like chipsi but don't buy those with fruit smell and what not... and do not but those made of pine, cob corn and etc... check the web for more "harmful" bedding for rabbit...

@abang brother, rabbit themselves does not smell... a lot people said rabbits are smelly, in fact they are not... is the pee that is smelly and if you keep them in poor condition like not toilet train them then their fur might get soaked with pee then they might be smelly...

they are in fact a clean animal, they like to clean themselves most of the time... so when they are dirty, give them time and they will be able to clean themselves provided they do not keep getting dirty...

@mypetisabunny, make sure the powder you used is safe for animal... it might seems harmless but it might cause respiratory problem for them...

A noob on rabbit....

My rabbit is sick i think. Didnt see him for a week , he's getting more and more skinny.

Do u bath rabbit?? i mean how?? he dont have energy to jump, he dont have appetite to eat also.

Most rabbits do not enjoy enjoy getting wet and may find baths to be quite stressful. Besides, your rabbit keeps clean by constantly grooming itself, so it is not a must to bathe your rabbit.

A sick rabbit must NEVER be given baths, unless recommended by a rabbit-savvy veterinarian.

You may try spot-cleaning instead, if your rabbit has a particular dirty spot on its coat. Apply some baby cornstarch (usually available at the baby section of the supermarket) to the dirty spot, then gently comb out the dirt. Do not use talcum, as it is carcinogenic.

If you do bathe your rabbit, be sure to thoroughly blow dry it until the undercoat is dry and fluffy. Rabbits are sensitive to heat, so make sure the setting on your hair dryer is no higher than 'warm'. Use your hand to check that the air from the hair dryer is not too hot.

An alternative to baths are dry rabbit shampoos, which come in powder form. All you need to do is to rub the dry shampoo into your rabbit's coat, brush off the powder after a while and finish by wiping a damp cloth over your rabbit's coat.

My rabbits are highly mixed rabbits i guess  , my best guess is that the mother is a mixed dutch rabbit and the father is a mixed angora i suppose (not really sure), but their confirmed not pure breeds. The colors of the babies are quite nice. i have one which has a dutch rabbits' black and white but a patch of chocolate on the back of it. Now not really sure yet, but when the babies are old enough for adoption, i'll surely post it up here and let u c. if u r interested u could adopt them  .
