Hi Guys,

New to rabbits. I've been wondering where do you guys get your rabbit from ? .. Someone breeds it and sell it to you on a cheap price ? .. or visiting Pet Wonderlands ( such as Mid Valley ) .. or .. through those Pet Shops around those shoplots ..

Where should a person buy a rabbit from ? .. as in .. those contained in Shop lots might not be healthy enough ... etc etc .. Let's say I'm from Cheras. Where could I have a good look at various kinds of rabbits .. apart from Mid Valley.

Having a look at rabbits from the link provided : http://www.jphpk.gov.my/English/rabbits.htm

I'm pretty interested with a few kinds .. :
1. Mini Rex
2. New Zealand ( white )
3. Vienna White
4. Dutch
5. Chinchila ( the picture that Abang Brother posted )

Do we have a season / weather that is not suitable for some kind of rabbits ? ..

All of you who breeds rabbit, would it be possible for me to buy 2 from you ? .. well, not talking bout now .. but few months later ..

I know male and female, once they reached to their maturity age, then they'll start behaving aggresively, etc etc ..

but what if they are of the same siblings ? .. will they still fight ? .. same cage from small till big ..

what are the possibility that male siblings fighting with =,= male dad ? ..

or they actually ignore all the Parents / Children relationship after reaching maturity age.

Yay ! ..

Just got my bunny from Beh on Thursday Night ..

It's a He .. and He's breathing .. tongue.gif:P ..

Called " Loopii " ..

Our first meeting, Loopii already Pee in my car, although he's in a cage .. and the drive from beh's car to my house is just 5 minutes .. lol .. tongue.gif:P ... see his leg, non stop sliding through the bottom cause the hole between the base ( cage ) on the bottom is too wide .. so can't really move properly, most of the time, leg fall down and got trapped ..

Pity him, so .. put in few A4 papers .. wow, see him like having fun .. so active, moving around here and there =,= .. often scratching the paper .. though, it just wouldn't torn .. tongue.gif:P ..

Next morning I see, oops, poo and pee there =,= .. sigh, so ok .. i remove 1 piece of A4 again .. cause dun want him to get soaked in his pee .. then =,= pee / poo on another piece pula ..

by Saturday, officially no more A4 for him .. lol .. non stop peeing on each paper ..

Got him a net .. now won't get trap anymore .. smooth walk from everywhere but .. one thing I noticed is that, now that the Net is in =,= I find him not that active anymore ... all he does is just .. eat, drink .. and ... sleep ..

lie down with 2 front legs in front .. while 2 back legs to 1 side .. like us hugging bolster .. that's normal, right ? ..

wonder if he's too small, I noticed he always poo at the spot he's eating his food .. =,= whereas his pee, some other place .. so by sunday, i made a DIY litter box with those basket and put his food on top of the litter box, since I know he sure gonna poo there .. Yea, he really did .. but he's not peeing there .. lol ..

I put the litter box directly on top of his Peeing spot, and scoop his previous pee and poo into the box .. but now, he's definitely not peeing there .. lol .. though i have no idea where .. been looking around, dun see any pee .. felt like he's been peeing real little too now with the net in ... wonder why ... still eating non stop, but all he does is just lie down ... =,= .. not much hopping around .. maybe he's too young for litter train, and i should leave him a while. =,= now he's pooing everywhere .. apart from the litter box .. lol again ..

but it's been cute .. tongue.gif:P .. after 2 days, finally it's not afraid of me .. I could gently pet him and feed him with some hay on my palm .. whenever my mom come, straight away he'll run into the dome .. tongue.gif:P .. cutest when he's trying to dig slightly bigger hole on your palm to access the hays ... cause at times the hay got stuck in between my fingers ... tongue.gif:P .. when my palm is closed ..

any ideas how can i make him more active ? ..

*** Just Noticed, The way my Rabbit Lies Down indicates this ..

Very relaxed rabbits will roll onto their sides or even on their backs. A favorite way to do this is to first twist one's head sideways, then fling the rest of the body into line so that the feet fly out to the side. This is called a "flop" and indicates a very happy bunny. A happy rabbit may lie on its side (or back), and stretch or wiggle or sometimes just hold still there. It may even roll its eyes a bit so that the white shows. When you first see this you will probably be afraid your rabbit is dead, because it looks pretty odd. If you rush over to give it CPR, it will quickly right itself and look strangely at you for disturbing a nice stretch.

Ur rabbit is soooo beautiful  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

But, i think u shudnt put it on the grill.. shud put something as the floor cover to protect the feet.. such as vynil (tikar getah) rugs etc.. but make sure it wont chewing the floor cover.. U can also try to find a rabbit socks it there's any to cover the feet..

Biscuit,

Cute rabbit u got there. The cage you got looks fine. Your rabbit should be able to navigate it properly after a few days. Or you could do as someone suggested here, put a mat for it to rest its legs.

Rabbit poo-ing where they eat is normal. Mine does that all the time. The poo is easy to clean up so theres no problem. And yeah they'll pee at a different spot from where they eat. Thats normal too. I used to have a litter box. But got tired of training it. So just put plenty of newspaper where it pees for easy clean up. A4 paper is too expensive to use. Whatever the method, bunnies needs time to adjust to their new habits. This could take a week or 2 sometimes. Once set, they will always perform the same thing and dislike changes.

And on making it more active, well, im no expert but thats not what u wanna do. Active or not is not up to us. Like any other living things, they have their own personalities and preferance. Just let it be and continue to give him the best. Check its diet behaviour and poo/pee pattern daily. Any irregularities must be taken note of and check with your local vet.

My cage, it's just like those ordinary cage you see at Pet Shops .. selling around RM 45 - 48 approximately. tongue.gif:P ..

I thought I read in few websites to use Wire Mesh instead of those thin aluminium / whatever silver color mesh .. That's why after the first few days seeing Loopii having difficulty in walking, i decided to go get the Wire Mesh and put it for him. It did struck me to get him rugs or whatsoever .. but those I see nearby my areas are usually the thick types ... trying to search for those thin floors ...

well, he looked like it's easy to walk over here though .. ok, i think he's been sleeping most of the time after i put in the wire mesh =,= .. if only the toilet training went well .. then after couple of weeks, i'll let him roam around in my house .... right now, at times i let him run around =,= .. till he started ... peeing .. lol ... just poo is ok .. but when i see him pee,

-->> -->> -->> -->> -->> Road Sign to Go Back Cage ... lol ... I tried putting him in my Car Porch yesterday. Can see him running and hiding in every obstacle to take a peep outside, then run back towards starting place. Everytime he hears a sound, he starts running and hiding behind a few obstacles till he reaches the front Porch to take a peek. .. tongue.gif:P ...

How would I know whether the Wire Mesh is hurting his legs ? .. =,= .. I see Beh and other people using the same thing everywhere .. You know where can I have a look at the socks ? .. I've been thinking, by letting him hopping around here, maybe it would strengthen the base of his feet .. haha .. since you say it's harder to walk ..

I was reading just now, whose rabbit plays with soft toys again ? .. -,- ..

I wonder if there's something wrong with my rabbit, haha .. Doesn't play with anything .. tongue.gif .. and now has the tendency to .. pee and shit at the Hays container. All the while it was all good, till I passed the cage to my friend. So, ok it was a 3 hours road trip in a cage for him. He seems to refuse eating those hays that I'm giving him anymore. I bought a big bag of hays, and well only those small tiny leaves remaining at the bottom of the bag, so I'm giving him these small tiny leaves one. Sees him eating lesser and lesser and lesser. Then he starts peeing and shitting on it. So ok, wash the container and tried readjusting the position. Put higher, still managed to shit and pee on it. ok. Now, change position, put opposite the previous site, well, after a day, starts peeing and shitting on it again. ok, maybe it's the smell. Wash it with Lemon / Lime juice, pure without added water. See a few progressive days, I even changed an entirely new bag of different hays. Looking good for 2 - 3 days. 4th Day, OMG .. He's back again. Peeing and shitting on hays.

What can I say ! .. Due to the small packet of hay almost finishing, this time .. I've bought Timothy, cause it's about time. 6 months of age de. Previously on Alfalfa. Mixing in Timothy with the previous leftovers, ... well ... Let's just say i still see shits and pees in there. I asked my friend to try wash again the container with lemon and this time only put those new Timothy ones inside cause they're still nice and long. Not those tiny leaves leftover.

Wht do you guys think is the main reason for this ? .. I could see he prefers eating grasses more than the hays. >.< .. Just letting him out at times to play around on the grass. How do you usually play with your bunny ? .. Can anyone be kind to give me some pointers ? .. Playing outside, cause he won't be allowed into the house.

hmm .. How do I let my rabbit cope with it's surroundings ? ..

well, we've been letting him out and running around for quite some time. Pretty often actually. I believe it's almost a month now he's in the new surroundings. Oh Yea, nobody tells their story of how they play with their rabbits yet .. tongue.gif
