I just bought the rabbit cage. They seem to enjoy it.
The cage was bought today and i set it up this morning.
They seem to like it too happy.gif.
Carpet PEED on the spot nearest to the food (to mark his territory)..... as always sleep.gif.
No wonder Carpet seems WAYYY fatter compared to Marble.

By the way, does anyone know when Marble's other ear will flop?
She's only 7 weeks old for now. As can be seen from the picture, only 1 of its ear is flopped.

Oh, that's just their 'sleeping' cage lol.
It's actually in the balcony (There's not much space in Singapore).
So for exercise purpose, I usually bring them down to the garden for about 10-20 minutes to exercise (Any longer and there will be risk of them catching heat wave).

During these times, they get a LOT of attention from the crowd.
I think Carpet is more anti-social though. Marble just LOVES the attention.
Carpet is Male, Marble is Female.

hi, cute bun bun u hv. However, u might want to consider to buy them a resting board or plastic mad for them to rest upon or walk in the cage. the wire cage is too hard for by bun bun tender feet, it might caused sore hocks (get swallan and form up pus). yes, the cage seem too small for both of yr bun bun, bigger cage will be better or buy another and separate them into 2 cage. once they grow up, u will hv no regret in buying the second cage...... biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

marble sounds like a diva! lovin' the limelight wink.gif

you may need to separate them very soon though, to avoid accidental pregnancies .. males mature around 3mths wink.gif

Hmmm so it will take a while for the ear to lop eh?
That's ok, it just looks very uneven at the moment

With regards to pregnant, that's alright XD
My elder sis says that she wants one of the child for herself.
What's the max baby bunnies that a rabbit could give birth to anyways?

i think it's 4-6 ah? hmm speaking of pregnancies, is it ok for rabbits to be pregnant during first heat ar? i see most animals are not advisable to be pregnant during first heat cause can be problematic for the mother.

each litter, generally there would be 4-6 babies

there are a lot of things to consider before breeding your rabbits:

1. even if u do plan to breed them, keeping them together for now is NOT ok. because marble would get pregnant very very early (most likely before 6mths! females mature around 4-5 mths). just imagine a girl getting pregnant at 12 and you'll get the idea

2. your sister wants one baby.. what happens to the rest? if you keep them, you'll need a lot of space because, as mentioned earlier, the males have to be separated from the females. not only that, same sex rabbits need to be separated too because once they reach adulthood (about 6mths) they get very very hormonal and will fight, sometimes fatally. rabbits are capable of killing each other, do not underestimate them

3. if you want to give the babies away or sell them, will you be able to find so many good homes for them? i'm sure you want the babies to go to homes where they get good food, plenty of exercise time and attention from the owner, right?

4. rabbits are pregnant for only 31 days. the female can conceive again as soon as she has given birth. that means, marble can get pregnant 12 times a year if you dont separate her from carpet. with 6 babies in a litter, that is 72 babies, and that's not counting the babies that marble's daughters will have!

5. you're in Singapore right? think about all the homeless rabbits in the House Rabbit Society of Singapore, waiting to be adopted. by bringing more rabbits into the world, essentially these rabbits will have lower chances of finding permanent homes. Maybe your sister can consider rescuing one of the poor homeless bunnies from HRSS instead

just some things to consider before saying its ok, i want my rabbits to have babies

Lol, not to worry 11Jan.
I've already thought of those things before happy.gif.

With regards of separating, my balcony has enough space for it.
With regards to babies, each of my siblings and cousins wants one.
And i have like a lot of cousins sad.gif
They're very good owners too happy.gif.
(Dont worry, i dont plan to make marble pregnant 12 times a year hahaha)

The only thing that i am unsure of would be just the process at the moment.
So i'll just separate them for now. I'll have a read up on it first.

Added on June 19, 2008, 4:20 pmSo weird though,
at the moment marble just doesn't want to be separated from carpet at all!

Like, it will try to jump and scratch here and there.
It will even SHRIEK and make some funny high pitched noise when separated sleep.gif. I just can't stand the noise at all so i put them back together~

When we got them, they were in 1 container.
Maybe they're too used being with each other sleep.gif (soul mate?)
Carpet wont shriek but will wander around and wont relax at all when separated (Won't even touch his food which is VERY RARE in his case)

hmm it says Shrill scream — Hurt or dying but it is a different case for you. i guess it'll be quite hard to separate them both, maybe slowly do it la, not so suddenly split them up. like let's say start of by not letting them play together at the garden?

hahahaha yeah ill try
my initial plan is actually to separate them BUT beside each other.
(Something like how you separate fighting / betta fishes but you dont put anything in the middle to hinder their visual?)

That ALMOST work..........
until marble started shrieking again sleep.gif.
I think marble just wants carpet as a cushion as shown in the picture.
Marble does that A LOT of times. 2 days ago marble slept on top of carpet too.

I think it just misses carpet's mother.
I recall the shop keeper told me that carpet's mother was the one that
took care of marble AND carpet. (Quite amazed carpet's mum didn't just eat marble up)

But yeah, i bet marble slept on carpet's mum far too much when
it was young sleep.gif. (Carpet is a pure-bred lion, so i dont think carpet's parents
has any 'blood-relation' to marble at all)

I saw carpet's mum before, even took picture. She looks like this;

I have a feeling that carpet's going to look something like that when he grows.
Doesn't look like rabbit sleep.gif. Looks like a mini-lion to me~

Oh, their full names are
Carpet -> Carpetto Stalvros
Marble -> Marbella Stalvros

Added on June 19, 2008, 1:07 pm11Jan, where did u get ur furminator? If i'm not mistaken, u said u bought them from Singapore, isnt it? I went to singapore? Or u shop via online? i found in Ebay.. but not sure it i buy in ebay, the price will be more expensive then RM120 or not... Plus, i dunno how this ebay thing works.. just put my bid on that furminator and see the progress.

Added on June 19, 2008, 1:10 pmAnd a quick question.. have u tried the furminator? does it make any noise or it works like a normal comb, except it has the 'teeth' to remove the unwanted hair? I want to try it to Micky.. she has 2inches length wool-type fur.
