I once asked my remisier what type of account I had opened. She said all the accounts opened with CDS, through OSK188, are direct accounts.
Dunno if right or not, but I should trust my remisier.... I receive statement from Bursa every month. |

QUOTE(Level6 @ Jun 13 2009, 08:37 PM) Thanks for the reply VyvernS, relly appreciate it You are welcome.Have been lookin hard for sumthing like dat for awhile. Anyway the book is just covering mainboard companies right? (dynaquest gt another book on SB but i tink its just until 2007) Second Board company is until 2005. But no harm to review their quarterly reports through Bursa site & also the companies own website. You should be clear their business type, P/L, Balance Sheet, Growth Opportunity, management, dividend yield, etc. Added on June 13, 2009, 9:11 pm QUOTE(nujikabane @ Jun 13 2009, 06:23 PM) That clears the doubt I have, thanks cherroy I notice cherroy has not answer, so maybe i can clear this for you.Perhaps my last question for the day is regarding the dividends. Say, a company declraes a dividend payment of first & final of 3c, does that mean there will be two payment (1 for first, 1 for final) ? And if the Company Z declares final 3c, is the calculation like this? : Say I own 30,000 shares (300 x 100 shares) of Company Z, is the dividend that I will get is RM6 ? (30,000shares x RM0.02) It means First & Final = 3 sen/share. Not 1 for First and 1 for Final. So if you own 30,000 shares then it is 30,000*RM0.03 = RM900. I do not know where the RM0.02 came from, but that's the calculation. As long as you are sure it is 3sen/share dividend (see below explanation on Daya). I noticed that you were querying on the Daya in earlier thread. Perhaps you may be asking about it. So this is something I got from Bursa site. You can find the link here: http://announcements.bursamalaysia.com/EDM...3B?OpenDocument Subject : DAYA - NOTICE OF BOOK CLOSURE Contents : First and Final dividend of 3% less income tax at 25%. = There will be a one time dividend payout as First & Final Dividend of the Financial Year. Kindly be advised of the following : 1) The above Company's securities will be traded and quoted [ "Ex - Dividend" ] as from : [ 19 June 2009 ] = To qualify for the dividend, you need to hold the shares prior to and on to 19 June. Selling on 18 June, you will not receive the dividend. 2) The last date of lodgement : [ 23 June 2009 ] 3) Date Payable : [ 20 July 2009 ] = Company will issue the payment on this date. Another important point to note is that Daya declared dividend of 3%. The par value for Daya is RM0.10. So if you convert your 3% into terms of RM, that will be (3/100)/(10) = RM0.003 and not RM0.03. There is a difference when declaring in terms of % and sen. YTL Power commonly declares dividends in % too. So, if they declare 9% dividend, then it will be (9/100)/2 = RM0.045, as their par value is RM0.50. I welcome anyone to correct or add on as this is for purpose of sharing knowledge. QUOTE(nujikabane @ Jun 13 2009, 10:44 PM) Very thorough explanation @VyvernS, thanks a lot! Sometimes companies do extremely well. They may end up with large pot of cash, perhaps from investment. Instead of re-investing, they may want to distribute some of the cash as dividends to shareholders. This may not reflect the dividends on operational profits or may not be given out as a normal interim or final dividend. They declare it as a special dividend. But if the company declare a final 5% and special 10%, what does that mean? Final 5% is understandable based on the information provided by you, but the special ? And if based on Dyna, the ex-date is on 19th June, wouldn't the share price as at 18th June have reflected the dividend anticipated to be received on 19th June ? Uchi Technologies normally declares an interim dividend for Q2 results and final dividend for Q4 results, each of 6sen, sometimes more. Occassionally there is a special dividend. http://announcements.bursamalaysia.com/EDM...0B?OpenDocument http://www.investorwords.com/5796/special_dividend.html On your 2nd question, as long as people feel the company is good to buy into at x price, the price can continue to rise. For e.g. Z company declares 10sen dividend for its share worth $1.00 on 25th May, with ex-date 26th June. Would you not say that 0.1/1 is a good dividend? 10% returns? People would still continue to purchase the share if they feel the company has good dividends and growth. So they will trade until 25th June, by which time the share price could be $1.50. This is an example. So on 26th June, the ex-date, the share price would then only reflect the new value after ex (probably $1.40), retaining the price it has gained over the 1 month trading period since it declared the dividend. If the market was horrible during that time, the opposite could be true. Price may drop to $0.80 and after ex- it will show as $0.70. So share price cannot be reflective of dividend before ex, as many other factors may drive it up or down. If you study Uchi Technologies, their share price in Feb 2009 was $0.75. End of year results (on 26/02/09) proposed a 6sen dividend. 6/75 yields 8% dividend. Good isn't it? So if investors believed that the company can continue to provide such good dividends and it is below the price it should be at, then they will buy the share and the price is driven up. It closed at $1.21 on Friday, but the highest it hit in the last 3.5 months was $1.40. And it's ex-date still not yet reach (26/06/09). And there's still the possibility of another 6sen Interim at the end of the year. So 6+6=12, for a $1.20 share, is about 10%. Better than the Sukuk. To all other readers, this is not a promotional for Uchi Technologies. I use it as an example, because this is one of the companies i am more familiar with. If you find that the dividend yield whets your appetite, please do your necessary homework to make your decision. Uchi Technologies did not have a spectacular Q1 earnings and came in below most research house expectations. |

QUOTE(Ruionkoh @ Jun 26 2009, 09:59 AM) C stands for Cum-dividend......that is dividend soon to be issued.X stands for Ex-dividend.....dividend has been issued. The volume for Sealink last time is this low. If like me you have monitored this counter since May, you will not feel that this volume of any concerns. Recently high volumes due to people want to eat oily food. Now they all in hospital already, so its back to what its volume should be. For dividends you can check Bursa site. |

Hi Nagisa - Everyone has their own cup of tea. There's Technical Analysis and Fundamental Analysis.
There is no right way or wrong way. Nobel Prize winning economists can write up what they want, do what their research are. There are so many factors out there for the individual trader, that no one way can be determined as right or wrong. Mind share who is this Nobel Prize winning economist and the title of his study? Hi Jamal - TA books are available in bookstores. Best to go online and check it out first. I suppose since you are online you will have access to internet. Find out more about TA and how its used in stock markets. Mind you, your mathematics has to be good. You will need to understand how the charts are read, what are candlesticks, stochastics, moving average, convergence, divergence, etc. and then also how to identify what you see - dark cloud cover, hammer, spinning top..... Hi Officeboy - Last years top dividend company may not be this year top dividend company. What you are looking for is a top dividend company that can consistently give you good dividends, whether economy is up or down. skiddtrader already provided one list. Its a good list, and i have 2-3 counters in there. But you also need to learn how to understand their financial reports, because from there you can determine the company performance and whether it will continue to give you exemplary dividends. You can start with the list provided by skiddtrader but mind you, some of the syarikat syarikat are not murah.... Cheers |

QUOTE(Nagisa @ Jul 7 2009, 03:57 PM) Nope .... there is no way TA can help in analysing stock in share market. Depending on whether you are a trader or investor is an important question to answer before judging that TA can or cannot work.Warren Buffet, Munger, Peter Lynch, Fridson, Alvarez are all very successful in stock and say TA is fallacious although it is popular. The only one say TA can help is conman in the advertisement and all the name who we never heard off in stock market. TA looks for trading opportunities, not investing opportunities. There is a difference there. So depending on whether the person is inclined to investing or trading, TA can be very helpful in determining and following a trend, going in & out fast. |

Not sifu....but you can refer to the shareholding changes in Bursa website.
http://www.klse.com.my/website/bm/listed_c...lding/index.jsp Or if OSK sends you a report daily, they may have it. I know that my CIMB daily report has it.
