i don't think 8800GT can run tri-sli. coz they only have one sli connector, but some versions of 9800GT can. only those with 2 sli connectors on the gc can run tri-sli.

the cheapest and latest sli chipset mobo in market is 750i, priced around rm400-450. older chipsets would be cheaper, but hard to find now already.

if sunyi sepi then we shall make it alive again..laugh.gif
yeah agree on what mavrix said about upgrading, that's what i do too whenever i wanna upgrade my pc. see which part needs an upgrade, , do some budget planning, and research for the best model that suits the budget. then when the time comes, go for it biggrin.gif

if terburu-buru sometimes might run out of budget or overspend, then you might end up with a financial crisis.

wanna ask, i've enabled sli with my 2 8800GT. both are different brands, one msi, another is xfx. the clock speed for msi is 6600mhz, and the xfx one 640mhz.

when i run 3dmark06, there's like red flickers or some distortion in the graphics. when the xfx is master, there's distortion, and when the msi one is master, there's red flickers. even when i run some games also it's the same.

and 3dmark06 shows a result almost similar to a single card only. can anyone help?

i see. it wouldn't be advisable to overclock or downclock either cards to match each other right?

eg like i downclock the msi to 640mhz to match the xfx one..

tried to sli again just now, still didn't work. although i already set both cards to stock speeds, but still get the same results. no succes in getting them to work smoothly.

could the culprit be that the cards are a different spec alltogether?
coz when i check on gpu-z, both have different pixel and texture fillrate. if not mistaken there's a slight difference in the bandwith too..

@Odinn,
you can try going for 790i, 780i or 750i chipset motherboards smile.gif
if you wanna go for 3-way sli as mentioned, then go for 780/790 series chipset.

well if you really can't hold onto your budget, then option 2 is more realistic, as you have mentioned.

as for option 1, depends how long you save up, who knows prices might come down due to new stuff coming up. so you might be able to save a bit from there laugh.gif
