Microstuttering onli exist on graphics cards which has dual GPU in one card.... The worst u can see is 9800GX2... GTX295 also got but improved a bit...

If ppl say u r crazy, then some of us here can be admitted in the psycho ward already....  laugh.gif

Microstuttering (delay between frames) occur on any multi graphics solution, not only on dual GPU in one board. You mention 9800GX2, most people say it got the most problem because they Quad SLi them, the more card you have the worst it get, and it's not nvidia exclusive problem, AMD/ATi got it too. Frankly, even single card have microstuttering, but not very noticeable because the delay is so small.

For microstuttering, I've read that some eliminate or reduce this prob by enabling Vsync or by using something like this. It limits the framerate but at lower than 60 (most monitor refresh rates).

With or without that, I haven't notice the microstuttering most of the time, its there, but not at the rate it annoys and game become unplayable. The worst game is Crysis, other game is not as obvious. Unreal Tournament 3 is the best for SLi, some say Call of Duty 4 and World At War runs great too but I haven't tried it yet

Just wanted to update things, I'm looking for a new SLi mobo these past two weeks and I got my eye on M4N72-E which looks like a great board at around RM450. While I'm browsing around at LYP today, I stumbled upon how cheap Crosshair II have become, it dropped to RM539, I simply can't believe it since last month when I buy 2nd 9600GT for SLi the price is RM850! I asked the shopkeeper whether its a typo but it was not. Without thinking twice I bought it instead of M4N72-E, and my oh my, I'm not disappointed by it's performance and overclockability. The ROG logo, voltiminder L.E.D, and LCD POSTER is a nice touch on the mobo

Before this I can't play H.A.W.X using 8xAA because stuttering occur when heavy firefights, but now its smooth all the way! Overclocking is a bless too, I can run 400HTT plus 2000HT bus on X2 3800+ AM2 CPU biggrin.gif

Give some link to support your coment please. I've done thorough research before buying any mobo beforehand. At least please state what are the 'fault' you been refering to or I just call them pure hoax

Yes you can SLi 9800GTX with the GTX+, read here. Best thing to do is search there, in slizone forum, you'll get most of the answer there.

Hello,

I have bought a low powered Galaxy 9800GT card to SLI with a 65nm Gigabyte 9800GT only to find these 2 cards have different core speeds:

Gigabyte
core- 600Mhz
memory- 900Mhz

Galaxy
core- 550Mhz
Memory- 900Mhz

My 3dMark06 scored a 10343, which is only 1000 pts increase compared to a single 9800GT.

Is this SLI working?

My PC:
AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+
Gigabyte M57SLI-S4
Corsair 2GB DIMM DDR2
Windows XP Pro SP 2
SLI Gigabyte 9800GT + Galaxy 9800GT
*
Check in nvidia CP make sure you have enable SLi and enable SLi Visual indicator in 3D setting

I doubt you'll gain much because 3DMark06 is CPU dependant benchmark. Try to play some games like Crysis, but still you need a good CPU to play Crysis, reduce Physics in-game. On my old CPU (X2 3800+ o/c 3.2GHz) with 9600GT SLi I could play Crysis Warhead Enthusiasts setting at 1280x1024 but reduced Physics setting to Mainstream or Gamer

coz i'm thinking of having 2 9800gx2's in quad sli but 1gpu die on physx.so it's sort of 3 way sli but the 4th gpu dedicated for physx.but still,i dun have any games that utilize physx T_T
*
Then what are the purpose of having quad SLi when the game you play don't even tap the power of SLi itself? Its like you going to buy a car that can go 300km/h while most of the time you stuck in traffic jam doing 20 doh.gif My laptop are more than enough to run those game you mentioned.

You can force AA and AF way higher than 4x, its just you don't know how to do it. You could force higher AA and AF to specific programs via nvidia control panel

erk?i know how to do it la.just the fact that if i crank it up to the max, current cooling won't be sufficient.even idle at 60-65degrees in a well ventilated case (all cable management, fan position, fan speed optimized already). that's why i ask if i go for quad sli, theoretically i would be able to crank up all the settings without having my gpus overheat.coz the processing power is shared,so by right less stress on each gpu and hence less heat.that's what i think  sweat.gif  sweat.gif not that i dunno how to force d aa and af .
*
Whoa that's a spark of genius, adding more heat to already heated environment. Theoretically it could lower the heat? Even common sense telling that it would HEAT UP even more. Have you even do some reading or even thinking first before posting that? Adding more cards will not cure the 'heating' issue you have, it going to make it worse. Have you checked how all the guys uses quad SLi, or even SLi cool their system? What kind of case you use? If you have so much money in the first place buy a roomier case or at least buy a high CFM fan to increase airflow that going in and out of the case

RegentCid already said not much games support quad SLi, having more GPU on one system won't, I say again WON'T make your system much cooler doh.gif Its just adding more heat source without doing anything in return

EDIT: My advice is, sell that card, buy a single newer, more powerful GPU.

Or.. if the 850W isnt sufficient fro dual 285, well i guess just get another psu to power up just the GPU's.. (jumper mod)
HOws that?? can right?? hmm.gif
*
Yes its possible to use another PSU to power up the card. Its easy to do it, just short the green wire on 20 or 24-pin power connector to the ground (black wire)

not recommended bro for me...it maybe will damage da card...as u know pcie x16 that slot on mobo did supply power too
*
The external 6-pin and 8-pin that powers graphics is NOT the same as the 12V from the slot itself. Have you tried it before commenting? I've tried it on three different cards, and even there are some PC manufacturer supplies their PC with two PSU, the 2nd PSU is solely to power the graphics card. No problem at all. Power the card before turning the main PSU, there is ways to make it sync with main PSU though.
