Hi~!
I am not sure if I am suppose to be posting it here or under Fashion & Beauty..
So, If I made any mistakes, please forgive me ... and move this thread to where it should belong.

Girls, I just want to ask how you remove your underarm hair?
Or in other words, your armpit hair.

I heard shaving isn't really good.
Most will use a tweezer, but it cause in-growns and sometimes make the underarm look dark/black?

May I know how to reduce the in-growns/bumps and erm ..."whiten" the underarm?
Not sure of the proper term. biggrin.gif

I heard some use waxing ... for the underarm, but is it really safe?

Thanks for reading, and any input is appreciated.

Hihi.. u may wanna try hair removal treatment.. nowadays is very popular and demanding in the market.

Recommended Bella Skin Care (I have undergone treatment 4 - 5 yrs back and the result seems satisfying and no more grown hair) cheers~

Or else.. u can compare prices wif other beauty saloon as Bella is quite pricey tho.. I noe Terimee is offering hair removal programme as well..

Good luck & Happy New Year~

Ahh waxing is alright?
My friend was telling me it was evil ... and it is really painful, scars and etc, so I got scared.
Can recommend me which Salon you usually go for waxing the underarm hair?
Thanks for the great help!

I personally don't like the hair removal creams cos your hair roots stay in the skin and you can still see them anyway. I just wax mine. smile.gif

I can say from experience that it is the best! It will be painful the first few times u get it done but it's well worth it. "It" looks a lot prettier, clean and neatly with the brazilian done. U can contact them at 03-22836094.

Yeah, need to becareful...
I usually use a tweezer ...
But so slow ...
And after take so long to remove the hair ...
It grows back within ... 3 days or so.
And, those thiny hair that grows back ..
Looks not so neat.

Well, maybe I'm just doing it wrong ...

According to a website I saw, it recommended pumice stones to whiten and lessen bumps in the underarms.
But when I asked my friend, she said it was stupid?

Can someone clarify that?

I use a pumice stone on my heels!

I think the article just meant exfoliation - the same stuff you use to exfoliate your face? I'm pretty sure a pumice stone would hurt the skin on the underarm....

When you exfoliate, the dead skin cells are removed. Hence, the skin become lighter and enable ingrown hairs to be ....uh... grown, or at least pop out on the surface enough for you to remove it. rclxm9.gif

I'd really like to know how much laser removal costs as well.

I do not have the money to go for permanent hair removal, the best choice among all though.

Shaving will cause the hair to become coarser and in grown hair.
Hair removal cream is just like shaving,it's just that you don't use a razor.
Tweezer is just like a manual mini waxing.
Waxing is good, but no good for ultra sensitive area .But it will get all MESSY if you don't know how to do it and especially no one is helping you.Waxing the feet is easy though.

I'm currently using epiliator. It's just another form of tweezer ,except that it can pull out many hair instead of a tiny bit.Or a manual waxing you can say.Costed me RM300++(Panasonic) 1 year ago.The hair will grow finer but it's only effective if you actually pull the hair root out. Some tend to break in the middle.

It's just like plucking your hair out,but with the aid of a machine. Better than shaving if you are talking about long-term result.

i have very little underarm hair, so i just pluck them out when there's any. but i'm a bit obssessed with plucking hair though, i even pluck my bf's facial hair laugh.gif

if the plucking cannot clear everything ie. the thin, transparent bits then i just shave them. don't need to do it often though so it doesn't really concern me that much.

Few ways to remove hair from your armpit

1. Waxing - Clean and Easy but maybe painful to some. Best place to do it is Strip, Bangsar Baru. As you wax more often, you tend to have less hair growing back and then you may try DIY. It best to go to a pro first. Don't want to be lifting your arms up for a week!

2. Plucking - Using machines like Epiliator

3. Hair Removal Cream - This works but some of my friend says it darkens your skin. Your armpit area may become black.

4. Laser hair removal treatment - 4 to 5 courses will remove you hair permanently depending how much hair you have. Only set back is super expensive. Expect to pay few hundred bucks for 1 course.

hi.. If you want to remove the unwanted hair in underarm. No harm to try in a beauty shop named Fleurs in Kepong and Sri Petaling. The permanent hair removal cost around RM 400. But you can go 1st trial at RM 99.

When I was younger and still have no hair on my body, my mom shared a secret with me. TAWAS or alum. It's that almost clear crystal like substance that people use in the old days to make the water in the perigi clear. You can get it at hardware shops. Or you can try the commercialised ones in the pharmacy. I used this on my underarm, the ones bought at hardware shops, seriously. And until today, believe me, I have NO UNDERARM HAIRS! flex.gif

try and ask any hardware shops if they have 'tawas' or alum... i'm not sure what they're called in tamil or chinese... after you shower every day, you just wet it and rub it on your armpits. the tawas will get smaller and smaller every time you use it. then you buy a new one rclxms.gif good luck! never shave under your armpits for the rest of your life! rclxm9.gif

yeah i was wondering also. but i search for aluminium sulfate and i found this

QUOTE
Aluminium sulfate, written as Al2(SO4)3 or Al2O12S3, is a widely used industrial chemical. It is sometimes incorrectly referred to as alum, as it is closely related to this group of compounds. It occurs naturally as the mineral alunogenite. It is frequently used as a flocculating agent in the purification of drinking water and waste water treatment plants, and also in paper manufacturing.

I think it should be safe right? unsure.gif

According to a website I saw, it recommended pumice stones to whiten and lessen bumps in the underarms.
But when I asked my friend, she said it was stupid?

Can someone clarify that?

When I was younger and still have no hair on my body, my mom shared a secret with me. TAWAS or alum. It's that almost clear crystal like substance that people use in the old days to make the water in the perigi clear. You can get it at hardware shops. Or you can try the commercialised ones in the pharmacy. I used this on my underarm, the ones bought at hardware shops, seriously. And until today, believe me, I have NO UNDERARM HAIRS!  flex.gif

1. Hair removal works
2. Waxing - clean, fast, bit painful. If the person that do for you is expert then won't have ingrown
3. Epilator - little bit pain but bit slower compare to waxing. will have ingrown if didnt do it properly
4. Plucking - clean but slow especially when you need to sit infront of the mirror suffering with the neck tilting one side (unles someone pluck for you tongue.gif)

I saw some products that whiten the dark underarm.
But not quite sure if it works because I never tried any of it D:.

How about bumps on the underarm D:?
