QUOTE(NewbieBetta @ Feb 15 2008, 09:18 PM) yes its ok..no disease just the pee smell only..unless u go for breeder celect as their bedding then it will reduce the smell alot alot alot I am sorry to burst your bubble but there are zoonoses that can technically be carried by hamsters that can infect humans, for example - BSE (highly unlikely though), salmonella (cirit birit ) and meningitis (flu like but deadly). Then again the same applies to many other pets, and millions of people keep them in households with little or no ill effects. Just pointing out an error, that's all. Pay me no heed.

yup looks like he got bitten... i was into hamsters about 10 years back and during those times there was very little medication available locally for hammies. Hence, i've used the 'yellow solution' - iodine i think, the kind that ppl use for cuts on me hammies quite often. No ill effects, but there are probably better alternatives nowadays.

Don't lose hope. I've lost two dwarfs before this. One week later one turned up outside her cage, sleeping soundly (probably starving as...) the second was found sleeping in a kitchen cupboard!

QUOTE(goldfries @ Feb 27 2008, 08:06 PM) don't force them. for me i put, they'll come. takes a while la. you just take time to get to know them and them to know you. I used to buy one of them large cheapo plastic aquariums and put the babies in there. I would then put my left hand in there - watching tv, reading, studying... eventually they'll get so used to your smell and they won't be afraid any more. Do this for a few generations and you'd have super tame hamsters (mine were dwarfs, but i seriously won't encourage breeding)!
