---------------- QUOTE(IcedNyior @ Mar 10 2008, 06:33 PM) Its been a while since I had hamsters so recently i decided to start again. I bought some hamster mix - includes some dried fruit and then mixed it with some kuaci (coz the mix doesnt hv kuaci). is your hamster ok? no injury? All my previous hamsters (few years back) use to take all the kuaci and never eat the mix but the current hamster (its a syrian, but quite young i think because it's small) only eats the mix. I want to ask what is the best and most affordable (im a student) bedding for the hamster. The hay that is mentioned, is that the same one they are selling for rabbits? Hamsters eat it is it? Plus one more thing, my hamster seems a bit scared. I just got it day before yesterday and while taking it out of the box (the pet store gave me a box and after that i terus came back home) it jumped out and fell off from waist height One more thing, is it better to change my cage its metal and start to rust and I dont want the hamster biting it. Thinking of getting a habitrail one. btw, affordable bedding depends on your budget.. students nowadays have diff budget lorr.. for me, i use Chipsi bedding with corncob bedding.. can last 2month i think. cost me around rm23 for the bedding only. |

lil'pumpkinz, tell your friend not give kuaci as staple food for her hamster..
actually harry hamster or prestige food is still affordable..it can last 2months for me..if she care so much about her hamster, dont be so stingy. |

QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Mar 11 2008, 10:22 AM) I agree with you. It's not even RM20.... hamsters eat like 1 to 2 teaspoons a day.... I don't think that is expensive. Keeping 1 or 2 hamsters is so economical... not like me LOL.... I got over 30 hamsters.... That's 16 Syrians, 12 RC, 4 WW and 2 robos.... i still cant imagine how you managed to have so many pets...cant show pics of your "workstation" ?? |

QUOTE(IcedNyior @ Mar 12 2008, 12:04 AM) I wana ask about sand bathing the hamsters. I think I read in one of the previous posts that syrian hamsters don't need to be given sand bath. So I guess that means I don't have to buy lah? So what kind of hamsters have sand baths? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « well, syrians dont need sand bath.. other hamster such WW,robo or RC can use the sand bath.. if you have a syrian, you dont need to spend extra money to buy sand bath..they can groom themselves |

QUOTE(djspinnet @ Mar 15 2008, 09:53 AM) My two sibling WW who've been living together since young started fighting all of a sudden buy another cage/tank for your hammy..My poor hammy was so panicky and frantic all night in the cookie jar before it settled down and slept I hope I can reintroduce them someday. Have to look for a temporary cage for one of them today... sigh. Update: I managed to find an ice cream box and "upgraded" it to the ice cream box. But its fur still looks so dull and its so quiet... it's better like that..WW is better kept alone anyway.. |

its normal..i dont think hamster eat sooooo much..
they love to hoard their food..keep them in somewhere hidden. when they are hungry, they take the food from the hidden stash.. |

btw, can i leave my hammy for a week? leave him with lots of food and water? |
