I know ww genetics better than RC. Russian Campbell's genetics are really wide and I only specialized in syrians and wws. Winter white genetics are not as difficult as RC or syrians as they do not have much colour codings, so I concentrated more on the body structure, temperament and health.

There are many hamsters out there that lack all these traits and qualities. These 3 qualities are important because it is one step closer to an all rounded hamster.
Winter whites should have a nicely rounded bullet shaped body. Nicely arched even arches and even dorsal stripe. The hamster should not panic, bite or shy away when being handled. The hamster should not be carrying any diseases or hereditary diseases like diabetes. Like this one, you can see the arches and dorsal of the one at the right bottom corner. The shape of the body as well is bullet-like. This is not perfect but it's a step closer and that one is in the perfect pose to use as an example. ![]() This post has been edited by Reanne: Jan 29 2008, 11:12 PM |

QUOTE(Reanne @ Jan 29 2008, 07:46 PM) Black eyed cream fairly common. It's a recessive gene so it's not too common, but can find if you put some effort to look. waa....so hard for me to understand...... Silver grey ah, import lor, US and Singapore sure got. But more often than not, you will get mixed greys. There are 3 different types of greys. Light grey, dark grey and silver grey. Sometimes ppl mistaken the colours and breed then among each other, so the genes are not pure and it's difficult to separate the gene as the 3 genes look very similar, have to be very sharp to notice the differences. The heterozygous silver grey looks almost identical to the light grey, but they are different genes. Light grey is a lethal gene. Meaning if you breed a light grey to a light grey, you will lose 25 percent of the offspring in the mother's womb because the homozygous dominant coding is lethal and causes the hamster to die sooner or later. More often in the womb, so it gets reabsorbed. reanne u dont breed the black eyed white?how many syrian u still have? |

Added on January 29, 2008, 11:06 pm Drink at the coffee shop taste better. Can take together with some toast also. Last time when i stay in KL, I brought my hamsters back to Ipoh too - somemore travel by ekspress bus. I carry them in a carrier (hidden in a big paper bag), when reach home only put into a cage. Hmm, all the discussion about hamster just remind me of the Ipoh petshop mentioned by blurjoey, I still haven't got time to go and kepoh there - I wonder if i can still see white hammies there or not... |
