Hmm.... hmm.gif hmm.gif thats sound so jealous

Anyway, they are not 'his' but ours icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif I no need to tame them on purpose especially Jackjack. He is already tame when we first bought him from Pet Shack rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif Thanks to Joan notworthy.gif notworthy.gif Just spend more time and be patience, and you can tame them by yourself la. If someone go help you to tame, end up your hamsters get more attach with the other than you sweat.gif sweat.gif

Good luck to you anyway thumbup.gif

SOSOSOSOSOSOSO HJAPPPYYYYY!!!!!!!! MY VERENA JUST GIVE BIRTH TO 2 PUPS!! So red... sweat.gif

Ah, she ate one of the pups, i don't know why, i didn't even touch it...
*
She cannibalized coz firstly, she bred when she was too young... resulting in some pups being premature.... so she cannibalized them so they won't suffer later in life. If she cannibalize the remaining 2, means she is not ready to be a mom.

QUOTE(sangels @ Jan 18 2008, 07:36 AM)
Please read up the first page in crazymouse's post for more info as she wrote about hamster's care and also on breeding  icon_idea.gif

shocking.gif  shocking.gif How come only gave birth to 2??? I thought suppose to be more than that? Or the rest already got eaten cry.gif

Please read up post #3 in page 1 for more info.
*
Sometimes some give birth to a few is because get pregnant too early, sometimes female is not ready to be a mom and kills of her young.... things can happen.

QUOTE(jayniel @ Jan 18 2008, 12:31 PM)
hi all, just bought a pearl ww from megamall.. vy cute n pretty but shy.. de guy thr told me she's only less than 1 month old, n i can c tat she's almost same size as my 3-weeks-old baby hammy.. de thing i'm puzzled is, how can she be separated from her mum at such a young age??i hope she wont be stunted..
*
Petshops do not care, so of course they sell at 3 weeks old. Most of the hamsters from Pets Wonderland there are actually underage, the hamsters there are never 4 weeks but as young as 3 weeks.... they do grow stunted or get sick easily coz their immune system is very weak. Take extra care of it.

QUOTE(janice_fun @ Jan 18 2008, 01:02 PM)
Hi everyone.. I'm quite new here.. Can ask? This actually happen 3 yrs ago..
I used to have 2 males + 1 female (regular drawf hamsters).. all siblings.. They continued to multiply and end up so many until gv away... (I know, kick me.. back then i didn't know bout inbreeding) icon_question.gif
They all have since died of natural death.. lived up to 2 yrs++.. and my mom still feels sad cuz she misses them so much...

Out of the many litter.. Parents are grey and well.. dark grey.. the other sibling is brown.. came 1 very cute, all white red eyes male.. We had him for about 1week.. Then he started jumping like crazy inside the tank but he already did it for like 2 days so we thought he was fine.. So we went out for a few hours and went we came home.. he was dead..  shocking.gif

The tank was clean, so much food and water.. got wheel to play.. the others were fine.. So my question is... can a hamster actually die from jumping too much?...I had a guinea pig which died from heart attack.. Can jumping lead to stress on the heart and cause heart attack?
*
It did not jump till it died. Because you inbred, it died from inbreeding.... hamsters that keep jumping continuously are like born with a disorder... like brain damaged....

guinea pigs are different, they are super sensitive and would die if they are too scared or are hurt.

QUOTE(GodLuvSxS @ Jan 18 2008, 01:35 PM)
Which brand of hamster food you guys feeding? I feed with the LM animal farms brand, any better alternative with better smell and greater nutri? If possible it's cheaper, i got 9 WW to feed LOL
*
You got 9.... I got more hahahah.... if you want cheaper, then mix a high quality brand with a normal brand. I mix Prestige with Harry Hamster and 2kg of Habitrail staple.... means RM18+RM18+RM13= RM49 and that only last me less than 3 weeks.... Also, I'm a student and my parents do not give me extra cash for my pets....

QUOTE(GodLuvSxS @ Jan 18 2008, 07:00 PM)
OMG does it really bother you that I seek for cheaper alternative but with better nutrition, I stated there if possible I hope it's cheaper, I did not said it's a must to get cheap one. I'm not looking to start a flamewar, but please try to be considerable!
*
People here are not trying to flame you.... they are just concerned as to why you wanna find something cheaper.... coz to me, 9 hamsters is nothing compared to the 30 hamsters.... LOL... be cool about it. Everyone here is a concerned hamster owner, we would question alot and even may say somethings that we may not think it is that personal but to you maybe it is.... but just be cool about it and listen.

QUOTE(jayniel @ Jan 18 2008, 10:34 PM)
rclxub.gif i accidentally bought prestige chincilla nature for my hamsters  doh.gif .. cos PLC sunway dun have hamster nature n i tot it's de same.. until i saw it sumwhere else.. sweat.gif they stil eat it anyway, altho i dunno they're forced to or reli like it..  unsure.gif

btw, is habitrail staple food good enough for hamsters? saw it in jusco for only rm7.xx (2kg plus)
*
They will eat....

RM7 for habitrail is not 2kg.... it is 1.2kg..... 2 kg is RM12.50 to Rm13....

QUOTE(jayniel @ Jan 19 2008, 01:01 AM)
oic.. oh ya btw, can i separate hamsters at 21 days old? wanna put 1 of them separately to fatten it up.. she's so small sized compared to her brother..
*
Yes, you can separate.... but make sure it really can eat.

QUOTE(jayniel @ Jan 19 2008, 06:45 PM)
help! anyone here knows of any vet near sunway tat trim's hamster's overgrown teeth n how much will it cost? wat should i do at the moment? it's not eating n is losing weight..
*
It doesn't cost much.... about RM20 or maybe RM5... who knows what the vet may charge.... The teeth grows pretty fast.

QUOTE(frostfox @ Jan 19 2008, 10:00 PM)
what to do if my hamster smells even after i wash the cage and everything?
*
Female syrians smell.... coz of their heat cycle.... Do not bath it.

Keep alone is best.... Robos only do well with pairs or small groups.

Play with them often. Let them get familiar with your smell. I tamed my 3 syrians babies for 1 mth I think.. until they can step on my hand volunteerily and can be picked up. But I really spend a lot of times with them... untilI become nocturnal like now. smile.gif Since robo is the fastest hamsters, i hope u have a fast hands biggrin.gif
Oh btw, based on my xperience, the easiest way to tame is also let them stay in a tank instead of cages with tunnels etc. In tanks, it's easier for you to pet them while they eat, easy to catch them also. If commercial cages with tubes etc, they can run and hide when u wanna catch and play with them. The more they feel human touch, the more tame they'll be lar.

Let's the sifu confirmed this... from my experience, it really works.

from my past experience on syrian, they are easier to tame than robo. but last night there is a great leap though, i try to bring them to the wheel and after they smell my hand they just run as fast as they can on the wheel.. after 1 hour, they started to know that a wheellllll and it's fun to run on it.

time to feed them now..haha..supper..!!!

Well well, I expected this when you say you wanna buy robos as my robos boys also like that. They are very different from Syrians, totally different rclxub.gif My robos only take treats from my hand and then run away. That's the best I can do so far, once they are tame, they'll become wild again if you stop playing with them for few days, that's why I get bitten from them cry.gif cry.gif :cry:They are so difficult to tame cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif

Hope you can tame them one day, all the best to you flex.gif Gam-ba-teh!!!

My Syrians never bite me too... You are lucky cause you get your Syrians from a good breeder and not pet shops. I'm taking about robos will get untame after they became tame and left for few days without human touch. If you get bitten by your tame Syrians then you should be a terrible person and make them feel threaten... unsure.gif unsure.gif unsure.gif Hope you are not blink.gif blink.gif

You got your black eyed ivory Syrian from Reanne, of course that's from breeder, wonder do you know the differences or not unsure.gif unsure.gif

Yes!! That's why all this while we strongly recommend people to buy from breeder rather than pet shop unsure.gif unsure.gif If you really read all the previous posts and you'll know what's the differences. I think you better read up so that you can catch up what we are discussing here icon_idea.gif icon_idea.gif icon_idea.gif

FrostFox,

If you have read up from the 1st page of this thread or V5 or other hamster websites. You would know that syrians will stay tamed even if you left them alone for a week or so without any human interactions.

sangels was talking about robos which will be untamed in a few days without human interactions and our syrians are tamed from the beginning because they come from good small pet shops owners who took better good care for them.

You got your rare syrian from Reanne but still you got a very long way to go in order know how to better take care of them. Hopefully the rare syrian Reanne gave you will have a good life with you. sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

Dude,

For goodness sake, read from the first page of these thread. You will know there is a difference between getting from a big pet shop (pet safari) and getting from small pet shops (pet shack) and home breeders (reanne, crazymouse, nezu, etc).

This goes for other pets too if you don't know. Some small pet shops & home breeders do it for passion of the pets so they took better care of the pets whereas big pet shops do it for the profit and they don't handle the pets.

You should go to the peta website and watch how cruel they treat pets in those big shops.

Again please read more before replying as it makes you look silly sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

He meant that you gotta take good care of the rare Syrian you are having now as a good master to her by doing more research and study. So that your hamster can live happily till the end of her day.
