QUOTE(blurjoey @ Mar 11 2008, 10:04 AM) You got Harry Hamster which also got kuaci inside but why you still get a pack of kuaci? I gave that pack of kuaci to my colleague already. She said she can't afford to get her hamsters the Harry Hamster food Try not to give too much kuaci even though they like it more than other food. They will eat others when there is no more kuaci to eat. You also give them fresh vegetables or fruits. Try a slice of apple, they will love it more than kuaci. When is it the suitable time for me to give away the baby hamsters? They opened their eyes already and they've got their fur. |

QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Mar 11 2008, 10:22 AM) Syrians are one of the biggest hamster species kept as pets. Most petshops have very little knowledge and would advice you to get those small cute cute cages or even keep them in a pair. Please do not fall into this trap. Syrians are totally different. They can fight to death and need a large cage. That cage shown with the little golden banded is toooooo small lah. The wheel is for dwarf, not near enough suitable for syrians. At least Critter Trail and Habitrail is even better for Syrians, that is if talking about cage.... those cheap cages that we find actually aren't really that suitable. The best housing for a syrian would be either a 1.5ft tank/plastic aquarium or 2ft. A wheel that is 8inches is needed and jtl sells Wodent Wheels, so so suitable for Syrians. It is natural for hamsters to hide and sleep often coz by nature, they hide to protect themselves and stay out of sight from danger. Added on March 11, 2008, 10:31 am I agree with you. It's not even RM20.... hamsters eat like 1 to 2 teaspoons a day.... I don't think that is expensive. Keeping 1 or 2 hamsters is so economical... not like me LOL.... I got over 30 hamsters.... That's 16 Syrians, 12 RC, 4 WW and 2 robos.... How many hammies you place under one roof? Added on March 11, 2008, 1:29 pm QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Mar 11 2008, 10:12 AM) Baby hamsters can only be separated 6 weeks after birth.... so do not separate earlier than 4 weeks. 5 weeks still ok but they need to learn some stuff from their mom. I've separated the male hamster, don't wish to have more baby hamsters liao If you do not wanna breed hamsters, then do not put your male and female together.... it will only bring about more trouble and more mouths for you to feed if you are on a tight budget. QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Mar 12 2008, 07:39 PM) In Malaysia very unpredictable loh.... that's why all the WW we see, they don't really look that great. Compared to those overseas, ours would have sharp noses, small eyes.... no bullet shape bodies.... colour also a bit off. So when breeding, need to choose carefully. Very true. My friend said my WW hammies look like the rats that can be easily spotted in the drain So far I have never seen any WW suitable for breeding after I stopped breeding WW. I'm still in the look out for good quality WW. Anyway, Nos.... I actually do have an Opal RC.... was bought from Pets Wonderland but it was the only 1 in the whole batch. RCs comes in many colours but it is very difficult to find all the varieties. |

QUOTE(sangels @ Mar 14 2008, 07:33 PM) You didn't see Syrians in Ipoh cos you never search. We bought ShaSha the solid cream in Ipoh, she is so tame, healthy and nice. We just spent about 2 days and visited about 4 pet shops in Ipoh. You need afford to get good stuffs, they won't come to you just like that. I went to old town only because I don't know the road in Ipoh well. I don't even know where is Pretty Pets until you told me Where can I get Syrians? |

QUOTE(sangels @ Mar 14 2008, 09:51 PM) 1) Of cos you can't find Syrian in Ipoh cos old town only can find white coffee, everybody included non Ipoh people know that FYI, besides white coffee, there are two pet shops in old town. One is located near Hugh Low Street and another is same row with Yik Foong. Friendly reminder, never judge people when you don't even know them 2) Wonder how many years you staying in Ipoh and are you from Ipoh? 3) If you really have the heart to find yourself a pet you like, I'm 100% sure you definitely can get one without taking 'don't know the road well' as an excuse. We can bought 4 Syrians during our trip to Penang and guess what? We don't know the road at all. We just drive around and found a pet shop, then stop and go down and paid a visit. It's all about passion. We didn't find our solid color Syrains easily or by luck, just because we love pets especially hamsters after we have our very first Syrian. 4) Wanna to advise you to put some effort to get what you really like, hope you can get it |

QUOTE(djspinnet @ Mar 16 2008, 01:20 PM) Scratchy is ok but Itchy is rather stressed and restless now ever since I took it out of the cage, put it in the cookie jar then later "upgrade" to ice cream box. Didn't have a chance to go out yesterday to get a new cage, going now in a few mins time. Both are male? Or female?Sigh... I actually got this sibling WW pair as a gift. I really wish they'd get together. As it is, I'm thinking of getting a second cage and maybe put a connector in between. If they fight, remove the connector and use it to connect some other extension instead.. hopefully once they get their own space they'd stop fighting even with the connector connecting the 2 cages. Mine are very loving, no fighting and both sleep next to each other all day long. But I separate my female WWs from the male, scared they make babies again. |

QUOTE(-Nos- @ Mar 22 2008, 07:22 AM) @crazymouse Hi Nos, yes, my hamsters are all WW and they are siblings. My mum said they are just playing with each other but obviously not Wow Blue in coming to town? breeding already? or still planing? I'm 90% sure it's a red eye lilac but i need 10% from to make it 100% ... @lilpumpkinz all ur hamsters are ww rite? All ur ww are in their adults? btw ww are not sociable and won't live together peacefully unless they are siblings, but even then, the hamsters might fight fatally. It is adviced to keep them single. @Travies u want the best brand? Then try using B2N(Back2Nature) U can get it from petlovers@pyramid But i'm currently using Kaytee Aspen get from 1 of the LYN forumer... About the smells i think got lil, but not that harsh... U might refer to the front page to get more information on beddings and foods as well... it's on page 1 or 2 in this treads... go n have a look in order to get a clearer view... Added on March 22, 2008, 7:34 am ![]() Anyone know the original price for this cage....? |

QUOTE(-Nos- @ Mar 23 2008, 08:35 AM) should separate them by now if not they might fight wif the mama too.. too bad u r in penang... come KL i adopt it I'm in Ipoh wah, so sad to hear that... i wan argenta ur cute cute havent grow up yet.. still cant be traded yet.. patient la brother.. Added on March 23, 2008, 8:57 am If you buy a pair of young hamster siblings from the pet store then they will most likely be fine. If your dwarf hamster has been on it's own for a while then it is much less likely to accept new company. so it is depends on which situation you are in now. Based on what u labeled as "sometimes" then shouldn't be a problem for them to live together. Fighting hamsters should only be separated if the fight results in any blood being shed by either hamster. This is defined as serious fighting. If your hamsters do seem to fight, keep in mind that many fights occur through lack of space and food. These fight will eventually lead to death. So beware..... About shitting on ur hand, it is because the hamster is too scared. This is very common so there is no problem with it. Until the hammy reached intimate level, the hammy will not shit on ur hand again About the smells, what the hammy ate, will affect the outcome of the shits smell. For example, for human, eat petai; then when berak what smell u can sniff? Ofcoz it's smelly smell of petai rite. i think it is something like that. Hope the informations are helpful. Added on March 23, 2008, 8:58 am if it is too pricey, why not u mix with habitrail food? It wont cost u a hand tough. My hamster gave birth again, 8 newborn hammies this time |

QUOTE(-Nos- @ Mar 23 2008, 12:53 PM) I did, but I was keeping the mama hamster with the baby hamsters because they're just 3-weeks-old and suddenly I saw there're another 8 newborn hamsters in the cage. I have no idea who's the papa hamster this time because I've separated another papa hamster to another cage. Yeap, they are all WW. You like WW? |

QUOTE(-Nos- @ Mar 23 2008, 08:56 PM) As soon as the mum gv birth to 1st batch pups, there might be a chance for both the parents to mate again..... u should separate the father at very 1st after u notice the mum is pregnant... so how now? 8 more newborns with mother + some of the 1st batch hammies..u should have separated them(1st batch babies) rite? tehre are no reasons for not separating the father at 1st, bcoz ww father doesnt really take care of the pups.. unlike RC.. the father take care of the pups... I seldom go to KL unless I'm on a working trip. You come to Ipoh, I give you all the baby hammies i started to rare ww edi.... yea kinda interesting also wert when u come KL? hahahaaha |
