Question:
Can I keep the pregnant female with another female ? Or let her have her own cage? Now she is like 2nd week pregnant, do I remove the male to another cage ? Or until she give birth then remove the male? |

Great news !!! She is back.
I am trying to look for her again just now. Suddenly I see the curtain moves. She is there trying to climb back up to the table where the cage is. That is a 1.5 feet high table. I think she must be hungry. This post has been edited by d100200: Mar 13 2008, 11:08 PM |

After changed the bedding on Fri nitght. My lovely hamster gave birth to 5 pups last night.
No wonder she was busy tearing and moving the toilet paper I put in after changed the bedding. I thought she need another week before giving birth since the mating only took place on 29th Feb. |

Thanks all for the greetings.
Jayniel: I thought it will take about 20 days but suddenly last night I heard the pups sounds. It can't be earlier because I put the male in on the night of 28th Feb. Most of the articles said around 21 days but some did says from 15-21 days. Luckily I didnt wait another 3 days to change the bedding because I notice the mother was playing with the water and the bedding was wet. I actually place the cage next to the wall and cover half of the cage with newspaper to give her some privacy. I have another 2 cage place infront of that cage so that it wont get disturb. -Nos- : hahaha... I only manage to peek at it today and there are 5 pups. All still pinky lah. Old people saying, now is the best time with the stout if you have internal injury. hooverbell: Will post pics later. Maybe after 10 days. Don't want to distrb them now. I have more than enuff space. Whether to part with them or not still not decided yet. |

as far as I know any animals coming in to the country need 2 weeks quarentine. So, you have to hide it if driving in.
By the way, my 5 days old baby hamster can see the color. 4 following the daddy which is Agouti and 1 following mommy which is Agente. This post has been edited by d100200: Mar 20 2008, 11:37 PM |

QUOTE(sOuLx @ Mar 21 2008, 06:31 PM) They're just 5 days old so still group together. hahahaha...I dunno how to explain it but if you have baby hamster then you should understand what i mean. I can't really touch the baby now and I don't wantto touch the mother yet.I only see them on top view and I notice the little one kind of skinny while others kind of chubby. |

Update on my baby hammies.
Yesterday I saw the mom carry 3 babies into the sand bathing box and left 2 outside. Just now I checked, only 4 in the sand box. So I wait till she is eating then open the box and check, the skinny little one is gone. I only saw a tittle piece of skin or something left...like black dry skin, can notice some tiny hand. I believe she ate the skinny one and suck him dry..... -Nos- Give you 3 Agouti trade for 1 back, mau? |
