yes it did. he refers to the thread starter as a politician from UMNO. lolz.

btw to topic starter - did u use a high seeding torrent ? did you check your peer list and where they are located ? if local peers mostly then not interested.

Note: How come it shows the yellow icon (means port haven't been forwarded) when I have already forwarded it unsure.gif . Deluge however shows the port have been forwarded biggrin.gif . Bug? Oh well.

Another thing, it hogs bandwidth more compared to deluge. Software stability wise is pretty impressive even though this software is at an alpha stage. Download speed is also pretty stable compared to deluge which rocks like mad whistling.gif

Let me inform you that there definitely are TMNET spies on LYN. Opening a thread about this to share is nice, but also means you already exposed information to TMNET spies.
Ever thought why Xunlei and many previously working torrent clients which bypass throttling suddenly fail? No doubt they already have eyes set in this forum.

You should never have called TMnuke jibai. It gets on their nerves and make them come after this new uTorrent like hardcore porno. So in the end this might go down in history as the first BT client to get throttled before it was released.

I still doubt it's peer id allowing a bypass.
That would be really dumb on the ISP side + the utorrent thread seems to suggest that the data layer has nothing to do with the bypass.

At the moment, they are not posting the change that make the bypass possible but we will know what it is once the ISP (or the suppliers of the throtthling tools) wise up.

it's not peer id

something to do with the way BT peer-to-peer packets are handled and constructed.

and it won't be long before Cisco catches up with this. It is a cat and mouse game.

oh well, tmNUT had to do this because they cant take it cuz they gave users "UNLIMITED" usage, which the users DID use but their pc specs are like... puik....... so cant support......... so need trottle user's speed.....

I'm using utorrent as well. Last few weeks, a few times, I reach 100++kbps in my download. Downloading a 4GB dvd took me less than 1 day, while 700MB divx in less than 2 hours. However, I should mention that they were hot release movies where I can get a seeders of more than 50. No wonder I can reach 100++. For old movies where there's not many seeders, i can easily get 40kbps..

wait a minute, utorrent using kbps or kBps. Hmm..doesn't matter. The number I quote above is the number I saw in utorrent.

Well it can handle my 10 torrents of 5-26gb files (yes, freaking huge) unlike deluge... so gotta stick to it until i finish those guys then run back to deluge for the smaller file torrents.

Its working great. Time to switch from Deluge back to uTorrent; deluge works great too but it crashes too often. Plus, utorrent has WebUI so I can manage my torrents remotely and a great RSS TV reader. Downloading now at ~ 90 KB/s which is good enough.

^ yea,

Warning...as I stated above, it might cause your network adapter to crash/hang your pc if LAN/PPPOE connected doh.gif...

If it does, solution is removes the IPv6 in your network adapter.

It's mentioned @ their forums...coz I got this problem last nite

It's just the matter of time before TM manage to block this new version, so VPN is not dead yet. Plus with VPN, you are anonymous, TM can't sue you for downloading stuff.

The newer version does not work. If you are downloading from the link located at the forum, it is the newer version which does not work and crash alot. If u have the version 7491 it will bypass throttle.

tested this for a few days. A question here, is there any tweak or methods to make the download speed more than 200kb/s.

Besides that, my download speed hardly reaches 150kb/s. I mean for single torrent. Is there any way to do it? Am using RM 88 per month package.

So you're on a 1mbps package right ? Technically it won't be able to touch 150kB/s unless it bursts up.

uTorrent 1.8, for izzi broadband (with encryption on), give me better result even compare with deluge or bitcomet. Tested for about a week.

However, oppose to uTorrent stable release, this 1.8 version really sometime resource hogs. My C2D processor 100% (both core) and I barely can surf. Need to restart PC to fix this probs.

I am using Eset Smart Security (auto update) for the records.

Anyone of you experience the same thing?

Good speed, I like utorrent!

With IPv6 installed. Last time also can get this speed but just rarely. Now obviously slow torrent can become fast. Previously I download these files, get max 30 - 40KB, the 1st torrent there get only 5 - 8KB/s. This shows great improvement.

The speed is blazingly fast : blink.gif shock:
I got 2 downloads on now,one of it previously im getting less than 5kB/s and now im having 20kB/s . Though it wasnt great but that's more than enough for me
The other one is running at more than 60kB/s
I notice that im receiving files from foreign country peer in the peer tab currently, I cant even get anything from other country before this.
A huge leap for utorrent rclxms.gif

Mine also very erratic today. Most probably due to international link cos I managed to get 100+ for a torrent with good no. of seeds while others poorly seeded torrents are still crawling. But the speed is not constant like last week .... sometimes it is 30 kbps and at other times 170kbps for te same torrent.

I tried deluge too, speed is not constant too. Very erratic.

I don't think utorrent is being crippled by TMNet (the greatest broadband provider in malaysia - we don't cap people, people cap themselves) cos most probably it is due to outage somewhere for the international link. I'll just wait and see - speed is still good but very erratic and unpredictable.

Although few decades ago I'd decided not to use torrents because the download speeds were freaking slow, you guys caught my attention now tho'.

I'm currently having 218.208.lxxx.xxx ip. And I'm gettting max speed (110+kbps) in direct downloads and limewire. However, my torrent speed is around 50kbps. Not bad at all.

No problem using utorrent tho.

Location: Klang, Selangor.

erk.. why my download not get full speed in 1Mb? can get around 60-90Kbps only. already tried with torrent that got many seeders but max i can get it around 95Kbps.

i'm using 1.8 beta build 8025 and when installation session, i'm not install IPv6/Teredo and Add Windows Firewall exception. Protocol encyrption set to enabled. anything that i missed? port forward done and currently using IP 60.50.58.98 and if using 60.53 and 60.54 also same.

additional info : using vista ultimate and set upload only around 10Kbps tongue.gif

Anyways, to the guy who has slow speed, post ur settings here.. remember to set ur max open connections to at least 199 rather than the default 8 in utorrent..

well yea... but just to stay "safe" i put 199 biggrin.gif...

btw i think tm net has throttled utorrent ... well partly. Before this i was getting max speed, 150kB/s +- and just 3 hours ago i started getting 20kB/s... so i changed my encryption from enable to forced now im back on full speed.. so the enable encryption is throttled... Use forced for max speed biggrin.gif

Actually its semi throttled, meaning, before this, i could just set the encryption as enable and i can dl at full speed. But 2 days back the enable option has ben throttled. Now i have to use the forced encryption to gain my speed back...

i guess forced encryption is 1 layer more than enable. but with forced u can only connect to peers who are also encrypted.

I'm willing to take my chances...they might be able to detect you if they release fake torrents and you happen to download it. To be on the safe spot, only download torrents from private trackers and also check the torrent rating / comments before downloading.

I dont feel any high CPU utilization. There is an option in the advance tab, net,low_cpu. change it to *true if u dont not want it to hog ur cpu utilization.

I'm using Private Tracker and it is working fine here. Please, next time just don't simply put blame on Utorrent client itself. Those trackers could be down for maintenance. There are also other higher possibilities which you failed to rectify wink.gif

Private trackers enforce an upload ratio so its always good speeds. Public trackers dont. Not to mention popular torrents, some hitting 2k-5k each can bog down the tracker's server. Remember, 2k-3k seeds X 10K torrents = bandwidth death. Now add 1-100 seed torrents X 500k.

Most of the torrent clients out there are still using the same old BT protocol which is Universal and has been decrypted long time ago. That is why most clients does not work. Your impression about TMnut going after each new torrent client are totally wrong. A company known as Cisco are selling that piece of throttling hardware based on the decrypted code to the ISP worldwide.

Now Utorrent 1.8 Betas, Deluge, Ktorrent (these both are on Linux platform) are using different approach instead of the older coding protocol. That is why it works undoing the throttling.

On build 10054, speed does improve a bit.
It's almost at 60kbps now, compare to 20 ~ 30kbps last time.

But strange with almost 50 seeds and 100 peers connection, can't seem to surpass 60kbps, maybe it's because of the peers are mostly from US.

I just switched to 1.8b 10198. Previously on bitcomet and could hardly get 5KB/s. Now i'm getting 40+. Not fast but not bad either.

Update - I'm getting over 100kB/s now. This thing really works!

Doodling with version 1.8 beta (build 10364) just for kicks to check things against Deluge. Honestly right about now (screenie taken minutes ago and counting) I think that maybe some guys there at screamyx's "l337 p2p initiatives =p" dept must have been smoking some weed or had left some devices unattended.

user posted image

If anyone can notice an odd thing there, it's at that peers' list below; IP: ks357563.kimsufi.com who or whatever the heck that is. Apparently the incoming from that was pretty much open.

Not sure if the performance can really sustain though, tbh I'm not holding my hopes up and I can only see that from when I use Deluge when lucky (as in doing it in anywhere other than the much cursed 118.xx.xx.xx WAN IP range). I rarely use utorrent's betas as a main other than just for testing the releases out.

For those who is experiencing slow speed on utorrent 1.8beta, u need to get the latest version available. My previous version was doing fine until last week when it start getting around 20 to 30kb/s.

Then i update to the latest version and my speed is at max 105kb/s now.

Used all the ones before and installed the latest one now...same old, same old...iZZi is throttling like mad (tried changing ports, encryption type - enabled/forced, but to no avail...) - and they do it exactly from 2:00a.m. until 9 or 10a.m!!!

Nothing goes through (Ares, etc. etc.), they sealed p2p OFF COMPLETELY!

It seems I have to wait for a decent ISP..or subscribe to a VPN service (but that even isn't the safest way to go either - read that some ISPs, even though they don't know what's encrypted, they throttle if it consumes their ""PRECIOUS"" bandwidth... vmad.gif )

Let me just say this, utorrent 1.8 has problems connecting to tracker. It seems that using proxomitron and having firefox as the user-agent makes connecting to tracker a breeze.
utorrent + proxomitron combo beats the hell out of deluge (I was using deluge until I realize utorrent 1.8 is actually faster, except for the fact that it is having problems connecting to tracker).

Sure, just download proxomitron june edition, run it(using google isn't that HARD).

Press Headers, scroll down to an user-agent. Edit one of them(or create a new one) by selecting it and pressing the edit button. Rename it to User-Agent:Mozilla Firefox under HTTP Header. Replace the text under Replacement Text with this:

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080404 Firefox/2.0.0.14
Then Press the Ok button.

Now tick the "Out" box next to User-Agent:Mozilla Firefox. Press Apply then Ok and you're good to go.

I use the User Agent Switcher plugin to find out my user-agent(on firefox). You can always use something else, but I can't get it to work with netscape's user agent or whatever, so I decided to use firefox's.

Now, in utorrent 1.8, go to Options>Preferences(or just press ctrl+p)>Connection. Select proxy type as http, and insert 127.0.0.1 as ip and 8080 as port. Proxomitron needs to keep running for this to work. DO NOT tick the "Use proxy server for peer-to-peer connection".

By the way, your computer won't act as a public proxy as long as the "limit access to only this pc" is selected under config in proxomitron. If you still have doubts, just have a firewall on (I have my router for that).

Note: Proxomitron must be running while utorrent 1.8 is running if you were to use Proxomitron.

Why do we need to insert ip as "insert 127.0.0.1 as ip"? Is this a specific ip for proxomitron?

127.0.0.1 simply redirects back to yourself. It is the IP for localhost. Anyway, typing localhost as the IP might cause severe loop problems, in which I have tried using privoxy. I mean, cmon, proxomitron acts as a proxy server with YOU as the host and only YOU who is able to use it (unless you change the settings), so the IP address should be pointed back to you. Since I'm a helpful fellow, I'll throw in a link.

- Change: grey out association buttons if associated
- Change: stagger PEX interval per-torrent
- Change: keep the RSS publication date after the torrent is added, for 'Added On'
- Fix: (XP UPnP) no need to remove the mappings if they are the same port number
- Fix: crash when saving resume.dat with very large peer lists
- Fix: crash when a connection limit is hit and there is no "most inactive" peer and a local peer connection arrives

most probably yes..

Previously i was using a private tracker, can get my full speed with no problem. (even though other users are being throttled)

I tried to switch clients but private trackers only allow people to use the full release uTorrent (1.7.7) and not the beta ones...

What to do? Just change to vpn / socks5 biggrin.gif

and have my full speed back biggrin.gif

No matter which version, beta or RC and no matter how mind boggles i've been fiddling around with the settings, I only managed to get 29.9kb/s per torrent, unlike some of you who managed to squeeze full speed on each torrent.

Is there nothing that I can do here or what? hmm

deluge is working fine, just check its speed in the morning like 8am...its fast...

its the streamyx that is causing the fault. It is so slow in the night and late afternoon.

But sometimes some IP give good result. Like once in a blue moon if I manage to get 118.xx IP, i can download more than 100kbps from my 1Mb connection, but most of the times I get 60.53, 60.53 or 60.51 which is so screwed up.

Test it out, different time and also different IP addresses, I am in Melaka and I love 118.xx IP at the moment when I get it. I tried not to off my modem but since I am using laptop I need to switch off..there goes the IP...

Conclusion, the streamyx network is giving problem at the moment!!

sorry - I forgot that the topic mention is for uttorent client whereas I talked about deluge.

Well anyway, I haven't used deluge for a long time now. If I ever need to use private trackers, I'll do tests on it.

In the simplest of terms there's no real diffs unless if you ask between the 2 modes to "disabled". If you meant the speed benefits from a screamyx user POV I mean. Enabled means that the client will encrypt the outgoing connections but also will revert back to plain connections should at any time if the attempt fails. Forced means ALL outgoing connections are encrypted but NO FALLBACK to plain whatsoever.

Mines fine getting 120KBps. Try using some of the manuals i linked in my earlier post. You have to set up uTorrent right to make it work. Don't just download and think it will work out of box like that. Must tinker with the settings and i also used the TCP/IP patch to increase my concurrent connections. Which for me works wonders.

Make sure your upload bandwidth isn't very low. I seen many people that just freeload but don't want to release their upload speeds. If you suspect throttling try Force encryption flex.gif.

Good luck. Take care.

Seriously I am not newbie noob out of nowhere that just DL and set BT up lah. doh.gif

If u check my screen, it is FORCE encryption. My upload is 20kb/s on which I think is more than enough without cripper my DL speed. Typically my upload stays above 17-18kb/s but my DL never run pass 15kb/s doh.gif

that DL file is like 5GBs it is gonna take 1 week 24/7 to finish it. doh.gif

It's impossible for TM to be throttling it unless they've invested in some highly advanced techniques (unlikely).

My speeds are OK. There are many other factors that can affect your speed so it's not necessarily TM's fault.

EDIT:
From Wikipedia:
"Encryption also won't stop a traffic shaping system configured to universally slow down all encrypted, unidentifiable or unknown protocols using a method as simple as packet loss."

Sometimes I have the illusion that it's being throttled, but the fact is I can still get good speeds. I believe it must just be some of the torrents.

I tried the guide. No such luck. Its 5 AM over here and I'm getting ~ 10 KB/s on a torrent with 300 seeds. I think TM net has found a way to block encrypted torrents, or there is something wrong with the .net connection.

Yes, you can. Just make sure that you're using a fixed LAN IP.

Alternatively you may use UPnP. You don't really have to set anything up this way. Make sure to check a few things:
1. UPnP is enabled in your router.
2. The Universal Plug and Play Device Host Service and the SSDP Discovery Service are running.
3. In µTorrent, go to Options > Preferences > Connections, check "Enable UPnP port mapping".

Try this.

I wouldn't call that super fast. I'm talking of speeds of at least 50 kb/s -- I was averaging at least 100+ kb/s a few weeks back.

It's common to get very low speeds on public trackers, so don't think just because you have 300 seeds your d/l speed will be fast.

Same here. Even http is not doing very well. I went off to http://speedtest.net and test out my connection. Results as below.

Download and upload from the Malaysia server gives me this:

Download and upload from USA server gives me this:

Something is definitely wrong. These were done when my Internet connection is idle. I subscribed to the 1MB package. It was working fine a few weeks ago.

try getting the new utorrent, theres a bug fix for tracker 400 timeouts if you're using NOD32 as your virus scanner.

I dont use NOD32 as my virus scanner, but im already on the latest Utorrent.

Demonoid tracker is blocked by TM. Use a proxy or Tor to bypass.

You may want to try Vidalia. Here are some basic steps to get it working with µTorrent:

1. Install the Vidalia bundle which comes with Vidalia, Tor and Privoxy.
2. Run Vidalia and Privoxy, wait for Tor to be connected (green onion icon).
3. Run µTorrent and change the proxy settings in Options > Preferences > Connection:
Type: HTTP
Address: localhost
Port: 8118
4. Start your torrent or update tracker.

dunno but higher seeds get you higher speeds

for using tor, you need at least 10minutes to let it "inject" in

default sock4 proxy in utorrent 127.0.0.1 port 9050 )tor default receive port( 80% suck your bandwidth with tor =D it just help u to route...

Obviously I am using Streamyx. The problem is with the throttle and not the seeds. By the way, I know what I am doing and I waited long enough but the speed is still the same.

It doesn't help to increase your speed directly but merely allows you to connect to blocked trackers.

Cuz it very optimistic of u to believe u would ever get full speed from one torrent... n really doesnt matter if i have many cuz if one really wants to go fast it will steal the bandwidth from the other... i can also sent the bandwidth for the 'important' torrent higher if it happens to get more speed.

Added on September 25, 2008, 9:39 pmActually, u can get full speed from one torrent if it is from unknown tracker.

Probably when you are only a new member, most private trackers have a wait time before you can download. After that, when you can download, you have to upload to a certain ratio, this ensures people seed. It's not like hit & runners on public trackers, which is why they are private, to prevent leechers and supply seeds etc.

Register yourself at Moviex and download the torrent from their site. Then you can download and seed.

Private trackers require u to share.... public trackers that have some private trackers in the list will either block u completely or only allow u to seed to their members.

Hence, just join a private tracker. U can pm me for more info.....
