I am also a grinding player... i can grind reallllllllllllllly long.
Then i realized, WoW is not meant to be grinded.

for every 10 monsters i kill, i can turn in for free 10k xp + free equipments.
That's when i stopped grinding. I grinded my way to level 40ish.

Congra. on reaching lvl70.
Alternatively you can do BG and get gears from there.
Took me a week plus, casually doing BG, by tomorrow i should be able to get the shield there.

Honestly, you dont use PVP shield as a warrior. Arena season1 set is decent if you want to PVE fury, but plz dont wear it for tanking.

why not ??

Gladiator's Shield Wall
5197Armor
134 Block
+45 stamina
Equip : Improve resillance rating by 29

Compared with the Shield drop from Nightbane
Sheild of Impenetrable Darkness
4872 Armor
122 Block
+33 Stamina
Equip: Increases defense rating by 22
Equip: Icreasees the block value of your shield by 29

More armor and more stamina is always good for warrior, if i'm not mistaken.
Plus it is much easier to get it, only 15000 honor points and 20 EOTS marks.

You need to have 490 defense in order to be uncrittable by mobs.

Uncrittable is MOST important thing you should aim for as a tank.
Crit damage and crush damage is the most dangerous damage source.
You might ask why not use resilience as a means to become uncrittable. This is simply because stacking Defense Rating instead of Resilience will not only help you towards uncrittability, it will also at the same time raise your chance to be missed, to dodge, parry and block.
Mitigation from miss, dodge, parry, block is also far more superior than raw armor stat alone.

For bear tank, different story la. They only need 415 defense to cap and soak up all the damage due to their crazy base hp, armor and dodge.

If you are desperate for a decent shield and you are too far away from shatar exalted, then go ahead and buy the shield.

So if i'm rage starved and have problem reaching 490 defense, this shield is not good.
Other then that with this shield is ok, right?

That gladiator shield is a really good viable shield for starting out (ignore the resilience thingy on the shield wall thats all tongue.gif)

And you shouldnt have problems reaching 490 def. Just rmbr you have 15 other slots to give you 490 def.

Btw, if you're rage starved, relook into your skill rotation.

Added on January 8, 2008, 10:10 pmI did a bit reading and found this quote from theoryspot.

"If you have the Gladiator Shield Wall, your defense cap is 472 instead of 490 to be uncrittable (471 for Merciless), and that is a nice bonus when trying to stack resistance gear for Hydross and still trying to be uncritable."

TBH, 490 is a good guiding number, but dont have to live and die by it. I just got the ZA shield (no def rating) and it brought me down to 489).

In last nites raid (b4 I flasked), not even one crit. tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

Also, for resist fights like Hydross/Leo (I tank demon), I've between 460 - 480 def rting, no crits also from my recollection. Lucky maybe? lol idk..

In general, I've noticed a lot of players love to theorycraft till the cows come home as evident in some of the other threads. What I suggest is... read up a bit to get some of the basic concepts and understanding, then just play the game and get experience. You'll learn more that way! tongue.gif

The only theorycrafting I thought was really necessary was Naxx as that needed every single detail possible. Otherwise, no need to follow the book. Theorycrafting is good and well, but that requires everyone to follow it and leaves no flexibility. Don't know how BT, Hyjal and Sunwell would be like, but till now, I've not followed any theorycrafting and think people don't need to.

Be flexible and work around the fights. It's more an achievement and fun imo icon_idea.gif

to be fair to him, I also power lvled my shammy by pure grinding and questing and not doing instances at all. When she hit 70 she only has 5.6k hp in resto gear.
