I previously posted this question in the sticky's hoping to get an answer but i didnt. So i hope those that dont read the sticky topics can answer me here.

I wish to mod my current car player to be able to read USB mp3's or card reader device to read mp3's. I went to KFAudio in aman suria they told me it was possible but not from them. so here i am in a dilemma hoping to reduce my CD burning days and with hopes to plug in my pendrive into the player.

I need anyone with such experience to direct me to a shop which does modding of such. i wish to add either card reader or usb slot to my player. if can i would like to know roughly the cost also.

Changing the player is not an option. If can i long time go buy new player liao. also i dont believe in the fm modulator mp3 player. quality is just plain awful.

The fm modulator quality in my wira is quite good. Got enuf bass to vibrate the car. Poor quality is caused by lousy fm reception in ur car.

Perhaps u can rip open an old USB to FM transmitter and figure out the line out on the circuit board. From there, u can use the decoder function on the transmitter to output audio to HU's line in port. However, it is not the cheapest solution and requires lot of work. Why not just buy a new HU? Brands like Sony or JVC going for RM 450 now.

if can i would've changed it. i mentioned earlier at best i can only mod it.

the new honda accord i purchased for my wife has an awkward shape with the volume button attached away from the head unit.
my alphard is equipped with eclipse. i cant change the unit else my alarm system, air conditioning, power doors and alot more wont work.

if i wanted to change i would've gone to brother's there and buy the head unit for RM350. card reader, dvd and usb.

if ur player has aux in port, just use a cheap mp3 player to play mp3, no need to mod the original player.

brother, i think money is not a problem for u. why not straight away change to a HU tat is capable.

eclipse system is stopping me lor. my gps and power doors and alarm system is hooked up to it.

in the case for the accord, haihz, shape lor. head unit if got that same shape i buy lor. but then will look weird with 2 volume buttons.

does ur dashboard panel there still got place to put another HU?

i think there is a place at the lower dashboard... but you will need to lose some of the drawers.. if i remember correctly...

get a cap ayam HU with usb / sd capabilites and install as a second HU if there's space...

jln pasar ones selling for less than rm300...now using one and works fine, but the cd player function kinda skip already now...well, it is cheap, never expected perfection. but i'm only using the SD function...so far so good..

Yeah true. My dad's harrier oso got 2 HU. He installed it at the cigarette lighter area cause he duwan remove the ori player. Now got usb function

good idea. it would work for my other car but not accord. the compartment below the headunit is slim and narrow. guarantee no fit. not enough to put it vertical also.

i really wish got someone who can mod the usb adapter into my HU. if u ever come across anyone please do let me know.

I think output quality have to consider also. USB HU will perform better cos no need convert. RM450 u can get a Kenwood MP436 USB HU already ma. So that u no need use more power from batt (ori HU + cigaratte plug in) and see the ugly USB transceiver. Later transceiver buang when u conering. Haha..

seriously don't even consider on modding your current player to a mp3 enable, its basically a electrical by pass which meddles the circuit. my friend last time did it to his exp HU just to have a vcd player in the car, turns out the player would skip and not long after, it was spoilt. getting a fm transmitter is still a wise option as your player will continue to function as a fm player while others still working like normal.
