Hey guys
I have an enquiry to make . I got a friend who wants to try with a modeling career. I was hoping if you guys can help me tell her what to do and what is needed in order to start.
I heard from some people that a portfolio which includes studio pictures is required. Is this true? and if it is..how much is it to do one?
Thanks and hope to hear from you experts.

It does not have to be studio photographs; simple portraitures like outdoor portraits would do good enough (I've had friends who did outdoor portraitures for their portfolios). However, if you can add in studio photographs, it would be even better. The pricing of a portfolio is charged by the photographer him/herself and sometimes photographers who want to improve or have a portfolio of his/her own to show others, they can do it free of charge. Like I said, it depends on the photographer. This post has been edited by sacrosanct: Jan 5 2008, 10:40 PM

Hahah im trying to help her due to vested interest. wakakakaka Usually photographers can be found easily and if you have connection with friends whom are into serious photography (especially if they've been in the field for quite some time; preferably). However, the market for dSLR users have been soaring so there will be many newbies out there who'd like to try out portraitures (models) or weddings (I find that these two are the most "in" category). Be sure to pick the right photographer because the photos are very important for her portfolio. When looking for photographers, always see their portfolios and how they compose photos of the model and look at other photos too (after all you cannot judge by only looking at a category unless the photographer is extremely talented in shooting portraitures). Well, some may not agree with my opinion above but I'd say, shooting portraitures is not easy because you need to get the right feel for the photos and it also depends on the contours of the respective model because not everyone can fit into a certain profile like for example; cool with dashing hints of sexiness in the eyes and face, or having the innocent outlook yet can be sweet at the same time, et cetera. QUOTE(R a D ! c 4 L @ Jan 5 2008, 11:22 PM) what about a 10-20 for portraits? That is too wide already and there'd be distortions in the photographs. I'd always go for prime lenses when it comes to shooting portraitures or a decent telephoto lens. Wait, you're kidding right about using the 10-20mm ... Mwahahahaha!
