well as stated on the topic, there is this option in my bios settings that allow me to choose either to enable or disable amd Cool and quiet tech.

i am currently using an amd x2 6000...

and i am wondering if the option to enable the settings will compromise my processors performance?

It is an energy efficient feature for newer AMD processors. It is meant to help you save electricity and heat from your processor if you do not need that much of processing power at that point.

Intel has such technology as well. Basically if you're overclocking, you'd definitely disable it.

My E6750 is running at 3.5Ghz with EIST enabled too. However, I'm folding most of the time so it doesn't really help reduce my bill!!! doh.gif

Won't affect performance, when the system need more processing power, the cpu will automatically go to higher speed.

unless u wanna do the overclocking, u should enable it..but it wont harm if u enable it with some minor overclocking, like what i just did: i enabled it, setting the Power Options to Minimal Power Management, set the startup vcore to 1.025v, and increased the fsb to 220 smile.gif

we're using same proc here~ since 6000+ power consumption is very very high... if u're not into OC, i suggest u juz enable C&Q coz it's really good for a long run pc or 24/7 setup... i will turn it of when i'm OCing my proc... but then enable it back coz i dont use my OC profile coz 3.0GHz is quite enuf for our usage... doing OC is juz for making records...]

so.. juz enable it.. no need to OC it la coz current clock is good enuf already..
