I can also dream about getting a BMW 6-series but we know both our dreams won't come true anytime soon brows.gif

The best Steve will announce is the 16GB iPhone and a new firmware.

I heard that it'll be MBP, 12" with Flash Memory or something like that. It certainly won't be MB I think as MB always follow its pre-successor - MBP. Furthermore, APL has just recently updated MB.

MBP stuff in 12"? biggrin.gif Don't get fck up if it didn't happen.

And seriously, if it happen to be ultra-portable laptop, the spec wil be lower than MB (macbook). Don't need to mention about MBP. Why? When smaller and portable, it need low-power processor and everything must be LOW LOW LOW power. laugh.gif So basically you will get a strip-down version macbook in 12" if it happen to be ultra portable. It might use Pentium M processor. whistling.gif

Price? It will be similar as MBP. If you do survey the normal 12" laptop or ultra-portable laptop, the price is very very HIGH. cheers wink.gif

announce only, then what?

let's see the pricing first. ultimately it's the pricing that decides whether consumers here buy their stuff.

A lot of us are dreaming about the 3G iPhone. tongue.gif

I wish there will be upgrade for ACD.

I think that MBP it is time for an upgrade but it will not be 12", that is way too small for professional line range. In professional line, it requires a big screen to work so that is why you will not see MBP in 13.3". So, quite impossible. I guess.

Ultra-portable..hmmm...power charging over wireless.

I disagree. Not much sense in making a ultraportable beyond the 13" screen size.

I'm intrigued by the rumored dockable aspect of the new mac ultraportables. I dunno if you guys remember the PowerBook Duo. I had a Duo 2300c. To me, that is still is the sexiest PowerBook I've ever owned. Sold it to Shah of Apple Malaysia but wish I kept it instead.... sad.gif

Easily solved by a the rumored dock ( or even by using the standard monitor-out port ) .

Point is: Given the ubiquity of desktop computers; it's necessary now to put portability ahead of making another desktop replacement.

Here's what I saw from CNBC. Ipod touch will be increased its production, a 3G iPhone will be released at around May/June. a sub-portable 12" MBP which is 50% thinner with flash memory HD.

Oh ya! Bigger storage for iPod touch. I am saving for an iPod classic for it's capacity. If iPod touch has a bigger or acceptable bigger storage, I might consider the new iPod touch instead of the iPod classic. wink.gif

hey! same choices that i considered! asus isnt expensive, but the HD isnt that enough. Dell seems good but isnt that the price is about the same as MB? But MB comes with leopard and boot camp! and it looks cool. arent they enuf reason?

yea, it is hell small. Btw, do you guys ever think of power consumption? It surely won't have MBP components on a 12". And once it is slimmer, it cannot use dedicated graphic card and it also will need more power. So? How can it be MBP successor? doh.gif sweat.gif It should be strip down of MB. If you guys got survey the ultra-mobile laptop, those laptops are in ultra-low spec as well

That is not apple official product la.. Please.. One company (Axiotron) mod it and sell double the price of MB or similar price as MBP.
http://www.axiotron.com/

It is a ripp off. Basically, they just buy a tablet screen (wacom punya) then put back every components of MB and remove the keyboard. Last time I watch it at youtube. See how they make/mod the modbook. cool.gif

Live video, NO!

But pieces of pictures and information, YES!

You can go to any apple fan site or rumors sites, such as gizmodo.com & macrumors.com or others.

Edit:
Engadget.com as well

Won't be that long la. I think roughly 10hours later after the keynote. Usually the keynote start at 1am (our time), then at apple site publish the video at roughly 11am-1pm (our time). wink.gif

yea... i think most people is expecting better features of iPhone, iPod Touch and MacBook / MacBook Pro.

I'm hoping for iPhone in Asian Market, especially Malaysia.
Hope it won't has to be "contracts" with local telco ! But this sounds impossible to Apple !

What do u guys think, if Leopard 10.5.2 is released, do we need to purchase a new copy of leopard or, the update is available for free?

What about last time with Tiger?

@allvin,
I became an Apple user onli when OSX was introduced so I really can't make much comparisons. Still, OS XI doesn't sound as good as OS X !

Anyways, back to Macworld Expo 2008.

only in your sweet dream la. Since when Apple products consider cheap? tongue.gif

Well, sooner or later there will be Mac OS XI. Leopard is just a minor upgrade or the series of X. Mac os 9 classic is sth like win95. I seen one of my customer use it and he still using "Claris Works", before Apple bought the company and then Apple rename into "Apple Work". Currently now it rename again into "iWork". That's Classic... xD

well, i predict the new macbook pro / macbook series with the following feature:

no more HDD inside MB or MBP, will be replace by flash memory
either there are a pad for multi-touch capability, or the screen is a multi-touch screen like iPhone
will equip will the 45nm Penryn processor by Intel
MBP might upgrade to 8800M GT instead of 8600M (several laptop company have already upgrade during CES 08)
no internal drive, all drives will be external (blueray, docking .. etc)
blue-ray might be standard for all MB/MBP
running DDR3 RAM

what do you think ? hmm.gif

It has always been a tradition for apparently "leaked" transcript prior to Macworld every year. However, some of the elements are too good to be true, as in Apple won't choose to launch/update their whole line of Mac products in a shot.

Aiduh.. That's are "rumors", buddy. DOn't trust too much la. DDR2? It surely will be DDR2 la. You tot it will be DDR1? doh.gif And don't worry it will be 2Gb. When apple call it "update" or anything "update", it will be up-to-date and better performance than before. It won't downgrade la. sweat.gif doh.gif

Hmm i put a simple explanation. SDK is sth like a tool to write softwares or applications for iphone. Btw, it is not become SDK. biggrin.gif SDK is just a normal software for mac or other platforms. It is not for iphone, but make applications for iphone. You need a pc machines or a mac machine to do the coding and etc. Then walaa.. You make a new application for iphone and use your iphone to test it out. wink.gif

er, you still don't get it? sweat.gif doh.gif

Once Apple release the SDK software. Then, any programmers can make their own applications. SDK is always free. Those application are FREE as always. Do you know those widgets? Just think it like those widgets you have downloaded. Programmers make those widgets then publish to the net and share to others.

I think it's quite safe to assume that no new ipods will be introduced during this expo since historically all ipods are unveiled during the Apple Music Event, which is held annually in the fourth quarter?

>>When smaller and portable, it need low-power processor and everything must be LOW LOW LOW power.
all laptop going to fit the 45nm penryn processor ... why not ? with NAND flash ... it is possible
but a touch screen going to drain the power ... so i guess is a track pad ... or multi touch mouse thing ..

1 AM is when the keynote begins lah. That's Malaysian Time after conversion from 12PM EST. I wont be watching the live video because our broadband will probably suck for live video feeds. I'll be going to here for live blogging updates.

Dude, I know there's gonna be new products. Just that, a little confuse about 1am on what actually start:

-Keynote's finish, check Apple.com and get your checkbook ready.

OR

-Live updating begins, ready your popcorn or snacks.

That's all. sweat.gif

all laptop going to fit the 45nm penryn processor ... why not ? with NAND flash ... it is possible
but a touch screen going to drain the power ... so i guess is a track pad ... or multi touch mouse thing ..

Bro, no offense. It seems like you really know ntg.

Do you make consideration about these few things? heat, spaces and price.

You serious think that penryn is freaking cool processor? I laugh.gif if you think that way. Spaces? Once it need to be slimmer, that's mean it has less spaces. The design must be good for the heat air to flow out and etc. Price? Hell yea, Penryn is darn "cheap" rolleyes.gif

either way, checkbook also on standby le... Steve Jobs seem to have the ability to make people crave for whatever he's selling.
I'm hoping for a MBP upgrade though, not too much to ask... or mayb a flying macbook since something's in the air..

less energy consuption = less energy use = less heat ?
better heat reflector material use to channel out the heat ?

if the macbook air is possible to be launched in market, it will use the other processor beside penryn...but still Intel processor...perhaps ULV type processor.Slim notebook...the chance of flexibility to change the hardware such as RAM or hdd(ssd) is relatively low, perhaps the entire motherboard(logicboard) will assemble together.Heat(if material is aluminum or good conductive metal)...i guess shouldn't be problem...since a lot of engineers work on it.touch screen...might not be in new macbook.maybe OLED?

first of all, yes. i'm still in uni. So? hmm.gif

Well what i 'trying' to say here is penryn is newly processor and yes, it will produce "lesser" heat. But it still hot btw. wink.gif Just like Core2Duo and CoreDuo. Core2Duo is said to be "cool" compare to CoreDuo in the graph bar. But wait? Do you feel cool in macbook or macbook pro? It still hot btw. You still need a cooler pad or what. And especially in the ultra-portable laptop, the processor must be lower compare to normal laptop. When lower, it means the performance also lower as well. And the price also. You think penryn is cheap kar? and what touchscreen also cheap kar? laugh.gif Btw, apple need to target a specific of people to buy the product. They don't simply produce stuff and they want to make more profits $_$

And btw, if you think it smartly. Apple will use penryn in the 'Pro' line for now, such as mac pro. Even it happen to be ultra-portable laptop, it surely won't use penryn wink.gif One more thing, penryn mobile chip is said to be delay abit, if you read engadget, you should know about this.

PS: Sorry, i offense you. Just don't get your BIG HOPE too much. cool.gif

1. yes, there still be heat, which all means either you have to use other material to heat transfer to get it cool (expensive material) or larger more efficient fan (bulky). simple science ... even car junky understand this theory

2. second, you think macbook air must be cheap and low performance, i think the other way ... so you think you are right ...

3. they don't make stuff just for $$ ... ya right ...

4. i am thinking there might be macbook air / macbook pro air ... i am speculating ... so making you thinking space wider ...

5. you still offending me ...

6. i don't hope anything usual, i hope for something great, so there is the word 'hope' 'speculate'

anyway, i hate ppl flaming other ppl's idea ... is just a though ... and people start acting like expert ... vmad.gif

Time Machine: Leopard works great with a desktop machine, but it doesn't work well with laptops because you have to keep plugging and unplugging a USB drive. Now he's introducing a new backup station with 802.11n and server-grade backup station. It's an AirPort Extreme station with ports in the back, allowing you to back up your macs wirelessly to Time Capsule.

No, iPhone user get it free! Only iPod Touch user need to pay $20

http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/15/iphone-...-and-locations/

If you saw the 1.1.3 leaked firmware then this isn't a surprise. The new iPhone firmware features Google maps with location, up to 9 total home screens, Webclips, the ability to SMS multiple recipients, and more. That more being lyrics, subtitles, languages, chapters, in your iPod media. To customize a screen you just touch and hold the icon for a couple of seconds and it begins to "shake." Right, just like we saw in the video. Flicking your finger across the screen moves to the next screen. iPod touch users, it's all yours for $20. No, we're not kidding.

So far 3 out of 4 things already talked about. And they haven't mentioned anything that has to do with this year's theme which is 'air'.

Next year maybe? sad.gif

Not many websites can handle the load. It's quite a lot when many ppl like us try to watch the stream at the same time.

There's no copyright, as you can see, media can use cameras and whatever they want.
