i wanted to ask something regarding our Front Disc Brake(the rotor),is it normal for them to be very rusty on the part where the brake pad dont touch?
*

mine seem ok, should be coated with a paint at rotor there which not contacted by brake pad...
if not coated, i think the hub should very easy to get rusty also...

Yo dude. Wana ask something. What's the advantage of getting those? To me it's a bit troublesome if a small stone stick in it. Susah mahu keluarkan. My guess is stock mat is better as i see it. Only my opinion  tongue.gif
*

it purpose to trap those stone inside there lo, so that the stone wont fly there and here while driving... tongue.gif

i store my stock myvi carpet mat in house, too sayang to use it... laugh.gif instead by a cheap similiar carpet from brothers... if it getting worse then just throw it and get another new set... tongue.gif

want to ask you guys what is the use of timing belt actually? and why do people want to change them after 80k KM? i heard that myvi is using the chain belt right? no need to change?
*

QUOTE
In the internal combustion engine application, the timing belt connects the crankshaft to the camshaft(s) which in turn controls the opening and closing of the engine's valves.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timing_belt

every parts that involved wear and tear issues for sure need to change, just that metal made longer lasting that rubber made... maybe it may last for 200k km but depend on luck...

200k km is time to change car ad..
sweat.gif

so fast? sweat.gif for the heavy runners like mydelso, for sure no problem for him, 3months drive 15k km (if no mistaken)... sweat.gif
i think 200k km quite ok la... but if used 15-20years, for sure that time needed to change car...

is shud be on the 12000 km or is next 12000 from 5000 km service? i am confuse!

shud i asap service or going service on the before 31st jan due to wanna use my car go back village..
*

i think u should record down the odometer mileage by urself when u do service... sweat.gif
sometimes mechanics will miscalculate the mileage and the date...

so what is the latest tag info?
if it mentioned "next service: 16000km" and "next service date: 06/04/08"
then means once ur odometer reached 16000km or 06/april/2008 then u have to service ur car on schedule

i was confuse lor.. 1st car tag was next 5000km date forgot.. if like that count... 1st tag also shud be 6000++ lor.. 1000km++ plus the 5000km..

so i tot was like next km 12000.. service time example was 6000++ plus 12000= 18000km only service..

dint really care that much that time.. so my 3/4 service see the tag.. eh.. y so weird wan.. means i totally late for my 12000 service lor.. now 15000++ plan going for 16000km service.. around this 26 jan only service..
*

if 1st tag u received "next service : 5000km" = ur odometer reached 5000km, u must service...
no 1000km + 5000km = 6000km doh.gif sweat.gif

later 2nd tag u received "next service : 12000km" = ur odometer reached 12000km, u must service...
no 6000km + 12000km = 18000km doh.gif sweat.gif

can u imagine ur engine oil change interval : 18000km - 6000km = 12000km
u used engine oil for 12000km !!!! doh.gif shakehead.gif shocking.gif

just be in mind, engine oil change interval is 5000km / 3 months... depend which come first...

Protection is not a problem as long as u service on time, even when using rojak oil (castrol, BP, elf, bardahl etc) over 10 yrs+. So no need to worry lah, the longest lasting engine we had was a 1977 datsun engine blew in 2005/06 by my cousin (dunno how she menjahanamkan the car  doh.gif). I was thinking since I read that the viva uses this new-spec oil can go for 10k changes why not the myvi leh?
*

actually i think that old designed engine more longer lasting than new designed engine...
my previous old toyota engine NOT overhaul before according to my dad, used 18 years i think (from 1985 till 2003 i think), suddenly it make a bunch of white smoke after service, piston, block, piston ring should kong i think... changed 2nd hand kosong engine that time... old engine rockx... flex.gif but no sure about new designed engine can long how long without overhaul... sweat.gif that why wanna use good engine oil for better protection to reduce overhaul rate... spend more RM20-RM30 for better oil, 1 year only RM100+ to ensure the wear and tear level, still affordable for me... but i heard previously rojak engine oil will cause engine damage, maybe one of the reasons the chemical inside the oil (brand) different with each others and caused chemical reaction, no a good things for engine... just like drink hot milo and drink cold cola-cola together may cause stomachache... laugh.gif also something like if drank coca-cola, cant eat medicine for few hours to avoid chemical reaction if not mistaken... remember a video about mentos + coca-cola? it just like a volcano when chemical reaction although both of them are foods... rclxub.gif about engine, i no sure also lah, wait for cheeann answer... tongue.gif
QUOTE(shah_ho_nam2 @ Jan 15 2008, 12:33 AM)
ya bro. i was looking for this mat la.. oh tesco got it ah? how much ah
*

actually all of the hypermarkets selling it, but the quality is flex.gif but price sweat.gif
the one i get quite cheap, RM8 if not mistaken, quality so so only... but i can confirm is below RM15 but just a small pieces, ngam ngam to cover floor only...
