hetfield's explorer(the wood coloured) is custom made dude.

" The specialty of the Kenny Lawrence Explorer:
In difference between this Explorer-shaped guitar James' other Explorers, this one has a modified headstock. This guitar is no "stock product" - it's a special design.
Otherwise Ken Lawrence is specialized in building hand-made basses which makes a guitar built by him even more unusual."

you can get the ESP or gibson one though.

There's an Epiphone Goth Explorer at Rhapsody (I think that's the store's name) in Mid Valley. About RM2.5k.

oh EX 50 is about RM1K plus? =D can consider man

Another question...uh..

Given afew options... I like to have a heavier crunch for palm muting

which one will be better? EMG or Seymour Duncan? sorry I dont know any particular model

81? 85? After listening to the demo...85 seems nicer

Anyway any recommendations?

My plan is to get an Explorer then probably change the pups. unless the stock pickups are actually not bad.

I thought like you when I first started, not using the Neck pickup, but the more I played, the more I realize how important the neck pickup is, and especially the tone and volume controls......

both neck n bridge are important smile.gif

but for maixmum versatility u cud have both pups
and the vol tone reli givs u more options tonally
jz havta make use of it

shakehead.gif shocking.gif

Then i wonder what model that was at Guitar Collection

kalau macam tu.....i can get it soon LOL since initial budget was RM3K

Most probably February or March.

Option 1.
Should I get SX Explorer(sorry dont know if there is any model name or code) and change pups perhaps?
Initially was interested in SH-8 but was thinking of giving 81/85 a try =D

For a better palm muting crunch....which one will be better? I like heavy =)

Option 2
Get ESP LTD Explorer(dont know which model yet)
I like the white color one. EX 50 was it?

Spalted maple has that crude wooden look, different than Hetfields wood finish.
I actually think it looks pretty good.

yeah..guess i'll skip the SX ones. coz the EX 50 is also about RM1K =D

ESP vs SX haha I rather got for ESP just for the brand.

my friend told me to check out Gibson's explorer too coz they are the "original" ones that came out with the design first?

i might be wrong lah...its just that my friend told me something like that...then came along other brands like ESP and whatnot.

That is true. But I still like the shredding appeal of a 24 fret anorexic explorer with a Floyd Rose to boot tongue.gif

Simple...... what do you want to play? Soloing or riffing?
Soloing, go for the Prophesy....... it has all the ingredients for a killer shred guitar.
Riffing, The Gibby Explorer second hand as it has a nice warm sound and really smooth for riffing.

It's not to say both guitars can't do either....... but if you're leaning towards one for a certain task........ that's my pick anyway.

Then you'd be more at home with a regular Gibson explorer.......
Reason A...... No need to setup Floyd Rose......
Reason B...... No need to setup Floyd Rose......
Reason C...... No need to setup Floyd Rose......

Do you see a pattern there?

Yuppers. It's Herman Li's Signature guitar, the E-Gen.

Don't tell the 7 stringers, but that's my next guitar tongue.gif

It's much cooler then the explorer IMHO.

Specs for the E-Gen was just released:
