Im planning to get an Explorer look a like guitar...I saw afew at Guitar Collection...about Rm4.6K~ Rm6K pun ada...


I haven't set a budget yet but wanna see what other brands there are out there.


Any Wood colour like James Hetfield's explorer?

Yeah went there already but 1 Utama branch.

kinda expensive but was sort of expected.

dont mind getting a look a like =D and change pickups to 81/85 Emgz hehe

There's an Epiphone Goth Explorer at Rhapsody (I think that's the store's name) in Mid Valley. About RM2.5k.

should be below RM1k or a tad above RM1k.

My plan is to get an Explorer then probably change the pups. unless the stock pickups are actually not bad.

EMG 85 bridge, EMG 60 neck.

I thought like you when I first started, not using the Neck pickup, but the more I played, the more I realize how important the neck pickup is, and especially the tone and volume controls......

yea..only use it once in awhile for certain tone and all..

confirm sx explorer is goin for 800. can nego one la . saw it at Technics 1u.. (the one beside pizza hut old wing)

lotsa jap rock guitarists use emg-60 at neck..
81 is more sharp i guess..

Go with the ESPs! Love the FX260 in spalted maple.

they have FX 260@ RM2.1K after discount. The wood doesn't look that nice....making me wanna go for solid colour LOL

Don't forget, the pickups are already going to cost your about RM700+

Spalted maple has that crude wooden look, different than Hetfields wood finish.
I actually think it looks pretty good.

Yeah, and it's weird that guitars that actually made of rotten wood or oxidized metal can look good! Love the pointy headstock too!

hhm somehow the one i saw earlier seems brighter..

the image u shown looks good..darker tone

I personally prefer the EX than the FX.

spalted not my thing.

the setneck plays great though.

Wait for the Epiphone Prophesy explorer! I might be getting one soon as my main shredding axe as it has everything I could hope for. EMGs, 24 Frets, Floyd Rose, set neck...... It's damn cool wei!

Simple...... what do you want to play? Soloing or riffing?
Soloing, go for the Prophesy....... it has all the ingredients for a killer shred guitar.
Riffing, The Gibby Explorer second hand as it has a nice warm sound and really smooth for riffing.

It's not to say both guitars can't do either....... but if you're leaning towards one for a certain task........ that's my pick anyway.

yea...I do MOSTLY riffing. Solos ada lah sikit sikit here and there but not shredding.
